Reading away will be tough and we have a few players out, Petrov, Richards, Onuoha and Bojinov, so going to have to change things at the back. We need to win, but i cant see us getting all three points.

Villa will beat us..they always fucking beat us. We always seem to have a game midweek against them aswell. In which, they beat us. Usually some ridiculous player like Joey Gudjohnson scores.

    I will.

Do you remember the Joey Gudjohnson goal? Was from about 40 bloody yards or something.

not specifically, he only scored a few but they were all 30 yarders. good shot on him, pretty useless otherwise

actually, i think we have a better record away at boro, than at home. so maybe you've got a chance.

    is Alves playing yet?

He's played a few times..the last couple of games he looked quite sharp..I think he'd have a good partnership with Aliadiere but he's obviously still banned and we are missing him. He definitely needs a goal though, Alves. He seems to be quite dangerous from free kicks aswell, he's had a couple of good efforts, powerful and on target, just too close to the keeper on both occasions.

A Curbishley side once they pass 40 points is akin to early season Derby, Spurs can afford to play Bent Darrent and still win comfortably.

Post by Bashmachkin Sat Mar 08, 2008 3:57 pm

We weren't really parking the bus before the first goal - we came just as close to scoring as Liverpool with Faye's early header from a corner, then if Duff had been quicker in the Liverpool area we had N'Zogbia free to the left who could have put us into the lead. But we probably weren't expecting anything from the game, and our line-up is a defensive one with Butt and Smith in the midfield and Duff roaming behind Owen.

Unfortunately, I can see another thrashing now - we defended reasonably well until Liverpool's first, but I can see them getting another couple. They probably should have had a penalty earlier on too, when Lucas was clattered in the box, though Gerrard should have been booked for a clear dive later on. Overall, I can't complain much at the defence, and the first goal was just one of those things, something that occurs when you're in such a bad run as we are.

But Liverpool have been the better team. The most senseless thing on our part has been in bringing on Geremi for Milner once already a goal down. We had to change the substitution and bring on Martins instead. The team as we have it will never score a goal via anything other than luck. I think Duff can be useful in the role behind the striker, but he isn't quick, and since Owen is bloody awful, that partnership is not going to work. Owen is so slow, he doesn't work hard, and he's too selfish for a player who has no pace - on breaks, he simply holds the ball looking for a shot, but he has neither the pace or the skill to work a dangerous position for himself. Butt and Smith offer no support from the midfield. The right side is negated now that Geremi is there.
