Rosicky: That article is a load of bollocks. To suggest that no fullback could ever be worth £18m is just stupid.

Not that I am saying G Johnson will be, but to dismiss fullbacks as an unimportant position on the pitch is just idiotic.

He joined Barcelona for €29 million, becoming the most expensive right-back in history, and won The Treble in his first season with the club.

    wikipedia Ale

    the same entry also says:

The official price of the transfer stands at €35 million up front, with €6 million more to pay depending on a number of performance related factors over the next few seasons of Alves' Barcelona career, making Alves the world's most expensive right-back

It was around 31 or 32m up front, but there are some (unconfirmed) stories that it will rise to 40m because of the trophies we won.

I don't care really, Alves is more than twice as good as Johnson. So it was worth it.

Alves ended up costing Barca €41m. €35 upfront, then winning the treble = extra money.

Sagna is hardly that much better than Johnson if at all. Yet he's linked with a 20 mil move to Madrid. You guys are such hypocrites.

There's a dearth of decent right backs at present but I'd rather Sagna and by the looks of his potential; Rafael.

Hell, I'd probably even prefer Arbeloa over him! He's still a liability defensively, which is why he FAILED at Chelsea

    lol! What a ridiculous post.

You'd have 19 year old unproven Rafael over established, first choice England right back who is only 24? what a load of shit Tweedle, even for you.

If he FAILED at Chelsea why did they come crawling back offering almost 3 times what they payed for him the first time. Doh

He's implying that if Sagna is worth £20m, Johnson is worth £19m.

I think its safe to say that Madrid are chronically overpaying for players at the moment though.
