    2º Sevilla, con 76 puntos
    3º Barcelona, con 74 puntos

He still firmly believes Liverpool will sign one of Etoo or Villa this summer. Not saying it can't happen (and I'm only referring to Villa here) but that's quite a dream.

He carries on because you lot naively dismiss the very notion out of hand. Eto'o and Villa (particularly the later) have been continually linked with us since the turn of the year yet you lot dismiss the notion out of hand. Oli even went as far as to say that we have no more pulling power for the average Spaniard than Zaragoza would have to the average Brit. Now comparing us with Atletico Madrid...

Perhaps if you actually entertained the possibility that a player who is continually being linked with a move, who is clearly (even if instances are over exaggerated) causing disturbance within the dressing room, could just be on the move to England and we're England's biggest club.

You lot seem content to bury your heads in the sand as much as you say Luis is doing the same.

Why would he leave Barcelona for the team that just knocked them out of Europe, having already won all there is to in Spain?

Why would Villa move to a club at which he has 2 very good friends of his (Aurelio, Reina), whose ground he visited on new years day? A Club whom it is widely regarded are just seeking a player in Villa's position, of Villa's calibre, to compete seriously at the top of the league?

Chelsea's sole pulling power when they were taken over by Abrahamovich was that they had lots of money and they were in the capital. Ours is that we have lots of money (supposedly) and we're England's most successful club.

You're right though, we're the equvilent to Atletico and Zaragoza. Far behind the mighty Barcelona and Madrid, who can pick the players they sign at a whim. Just look at Ronaldo Rolling Eyes

he is saying that in spain liverpool doesnt have a high star and is seen as atletico of england.also liverpool is the most succesfull club in england but im not sure they are the biggest or at least thats not the image i get. of course liverpool has more pulling power then zaragoza. i dont know if villa is friends with aurelio and reina but it can help with all the spaniards and that is liverpools advantage along with the spanish manager. i think its an option but i dont think it will happen because liverpool are not going to use crazy money and that is what they will have to because valencia is just like sevilla in being very hard to deal with.

Well, I think Villa to Liverpool is quite possible, some reasons Obi have given , anyone can see he can be the difference between them winning a title and staying 2nd(3rd) and Rafa could easily convince him that , not to mention their record in Europe.
How much would he cost 30 m? They can pay that , specially as their owners might want to prove that they are among the very best.

In the NOTW today he made a few statements saying that he would consider the offer of Liverpool if it were to come in. He stated that it was not his original plan to play in England but it now appeals to him. Spanish team mates are in the squad of course, he is good friends with Pepe Reina. It could happen.

it could happen it depends on how far liverpool are will to go. villa could go because of the spanish people at liverpool. i think he would go for 30 mil but the thing is that they might act different because if they have to sell they normally prefer it to be to foreign clubs so it might not be high but i gues we will see.

The Spanish players already there and Rafa will be what wins him for Liverpool if he does leave. Valencia would hopefully use the money to further invest in top Spanish talent. But the way the club is at the moment - I'm not to sure whether tensions could rise even further over which players to sign.

Another round and time to forget about Zaragoza who are now 9 points behind - too much.

the table looks like this now.

    1 Barcelona 30 59
    2 Sevilla 30 55
    3 Real Madrid 30 54
    4 Valencia 30 53

    games left:

    matchday .... Barcelona ........ Sevilla ............ Madrid ........... Valencia

    31 ............... Villarreal (A) .... Athletic (H) ...... Valencia (H).... R Madrid (A)
    32 ............... Levante (H) ...... Espanyol (H) .... Athletic (A) ..... Recre (H)
    33 ............... Sociedad (A) .... R Madrid (A) ..... Sevilla (H) ..... Depor (A)
    34 ............... Betis (H) .......... Recre (H) ......... Espanyol (H).... Zaragoza (H)
    35 ............... Atlético (A) ...... Depor (A) ......... Recre (A) ........ Mallorca (A)
    36 ............... Getafe (H) ....... Zaragoza (H) .... Depor (H) ....... Villareal (H)
    37 ............... Espanyol (H) .... Mallorca (A) ...... Zaragoza (A).... Levante (A)
    38 ............... Nastic (A) ........ Villarreal (H) ..... Mallorca (H) ..... Sociedad (H)

Barça did good business this weekend, with 2nd and 3rd losing their matches.
Barcelona now need to drop points in at least two matches and another team must then still win all games in hand. That seems impossible.

next weekend Real - Valencia and two weeks after that Real - Sevilla. If Barcelona manage to win the next 4 encounters against lowly opposition, they are all but sure winners of the league. or not...

If Valencia get through the next four with nine points I am still looking at them as a major threat - particularly with the last four which all look like three pointers.

I think perhaps Real and Sevilla have the hardest fixtures so they would be my outsiders at this stage, but if Madrid were to beat Valencia this weekend and Barca slip up in el madrigal things would look very different. Barca have to be favorites though.

Has anyone got the current odds? I looked on ladbrokes but they only offer them on the copa del Rey at the moment.
