Yes he is... or perhaps not as bad, just not good enough. He should be playing for the teams 16th-20th in the league not for the 5th that wants to challenge the established top 4.
Last year he was among the three-four worst keepers in the prem (Green, Carrol worse, on the same level as Paddy Kenny).
To keep it short and offer a different perspective on the well known failings of Robinson (crosses, long shots, set pieces, shaky etc), in the top 7 the keepers are supposed to at least win the their team
1 point the entire season. This cannot be said about Robbo, nor can be counted on to.
I disagree.
He's no where near the worst in the Premier league. People forget he's only 25/26 which is very young for a goalkeeper. Before last season he had been superb for Spurs and Leeds.
James, Howard, Friedel, Hahnneman, Reina, Jussi, VDS, Cech, Lehamnn, Sorensen, Schwartzer, Foster, Niemi, Carson, Given, Kirkland and Weaver were all better than him. Paddy kenny on the same level (decent) and Green and Carrol worse.
And Robbo's always dodgy on crosses, set pieces and long shots. I dont see how you can posibly disagree with that. Not too mention he doesn't command his box and makes frequent rookie mistakes (punch the ball when catching, catching when punching was better option; coming out to catch the ball but missing completely).
The seasons before he had the same cockups for Spurs (its then I really noticed) but since it was "Robbo England's #1" time, people
never noticed. At the WC I also remember the whole MOTD staff making jokes about the african keepers (replays, slo-mo and all) and their crosses only to have Robinson fail even worse at them.
He's certainly not one of the best either but for the moment he's a good enough keeper for Spurs. If he doesn't improve enough whilst Spurs are getting better season by season, that's when they should be looking to replace him.
Spurs are a fifth placed team who wants to break the top 4 - how in the world can you even pretend that Robbo is good enough for that job? He's decent(-ish), but decent simply won't do. Decent is good enough for the championship or for a cash strapped relegation battling team. Not fifth place.
Or how much longer are they supposed to wait? Till they're in the CL?
Spurs
are getting better by the season, but he's keeping them back, that's why he should become the #2 or go to a lower club.
