Becuase they spoke about it on the Radio, which is on constantly at work.

Excellent deal. Now I see why Spurs are called "jews" by rival fans, it's their stereotypical talent to make great deals.

Bent's an investment though.

They could keep him for 5-6 years and still sell him on for £10 million.

Or they could spend those £16.5m on players they really need. Besides, it's highly speculative that they'll get £10m for him in 5-6 years, even by Premiership standards.

I feel a tad better hearing the deal is 15m over 3 years - and the £1.5m is dependent on trophies & personal achievements I guess.

Also he's going to be on £35k p/w.

Really? If that's the case then that is pretty good. I thought he would be on at least £50,000 so that saves a bit of money.

So Bent loves Spurs so much (or hates West Ham, depending on your perspective) that he is willing to do without more than half of the wage he could earn at West Ham?

Sounds too good to be true IMHO, would be the absolute exception these days.

I don't think it's that surprising tbh. West Ham are investing and are traditionally a big-ish club in England, but the last few years have been a bit topsy-turvy. And maybe he just didn't like the coaching he got from Curbishley, or the way he was used at Charlton, and wants to improve under a better manager like Jol. Plus Spurs have European football.

We offered him 42k p/w actually...don't believe all what you read...

Bent hates West Ham and so do his family, although he is an Arsenal fan...so for some reason they hate us more than Spurs.
