Real are now my Number 1 club in Spain

    <Ale>

Schuster is maybe my No1 ALL-TIME-FAVOURITE German player

I have raved about him as a manager for ages as well, when nobody seemed to notice his work

what a pity though that Real did not buy Klose

    For the English speakers...

It seems Torsten Frings suffered some knee ligament damage in Bremen's test match against Paderborn earlier tonight. It's not 100% certain yet, so let's hope it's not that bad.

    He could miss 6 months.

It's just all horrific. Players are usually/often out for a year after this kind of injury.

    http://www.dfb.de/index.php?id=500014&tx_dfbnews_pi1[showUid]=11680

Can understand why Chrissi and Blut aren't around at the moment, maybe I should enter the Werder forum and chase them down.

Happarently they've just cancelled a test game against Mainz as it would be pointless with the list of injured longer than the list of those who can play. Depressing stuff.

I honestly can't think of another German player I'd less want to get this injury right now. And for a 30-year-old...

Frings' ligament damage isn't as severe as first thought. It's not a tear at least and he should only miss 6 weeks instead of 6 months.

    Good stuff.

Please, please do so, Allez! I don't really have the nerve to go on a hunger strike to force them to return at the moment, so...

Good to hear that Frings' injury isn't as bad as everyone thought at first.

Am I the only one who thought he'd become unbearable and even more outspoken with nothing more to focus on than his physio sessions?

First of all, Werder fans had a very hard time already recently, but the Frings news was the worst. If Frings had been out for 6 months, the season for us would have been over basically. It's not like we don't have enough injuries already, but Frings is probably our most important player, not only for Werder, but for die Mannschaft as well. That's why everyone was so relieved once it was clear that the injury is not that bad.
Still, we'll definitely miss him in the next 6 crucial weeks, especially in the CL qualification and CL matches, should we qualify, of course.

The second good news in all this mess is that Carlos Alberto finally got his full international license today, so he finally can play competitive matches for us. Naldo and Diego will be back this weekend also, about time.

The preparations for the season could not have been worse. However, some Werder fans are optimistic and see this as a good omen. In the 2003 / 2004 season when we won the double, we were awful in the pre-season also.

There will be more transfers. Allofs supposedly went to the UK yesterday, some speculate that he wanted to negotiate with Bolton about Anelka, although most are rather sceptical that the transfer will happen. A loan deal with a buy out clause could be an option also.

The Nilmar situation will be clear very soon, whether his contract with Corinthians is still valid or not, so he might be able to move for free soon even.

Since Schulz will probably leave us, and Womé is injured now also, we'll most probably need a left back as well. It looks like we are interested in 22 year old Serbian LB Dusko Tosic (Sochaux).

If you could get Anelka it would be quite an achievement. Like you though I'm still doubtful about whether that will happen.

Hopefully you can get the other transfers wrapped up quickly and can give the players as much time to settle as possible. Is it only two weeks until the start of the Bundesliga?
