Oh FFS! There's England with a golden opportunity to finally win something, and there's Germany waiting for them...AGAIN. Biggrin

The game's a toss up. In fant, they're all very intriguing matchups in quarterfinals to say the least. I'm just glad the Perú-Ghana is the "later" game at 6am my time. <Ale>

    France - Spain 1:1aet
    1:0 Le Tallec 52.
    1:1 Jordi 72.

    Spain wins 5:4 on penalties

very undeserved win for Spain, France was the clearly better team. They should have wrapped the game up in normal time.

    Ghana - Peru 1:0
    1:0 Adams 45.

Ghana should lead by at least 3 goals. Peru had not even created a single chance so far.

Ghana are very good, but we should be doing much better than that. I wonder how much are the elements playing a part against us since most our players are from the coast. These players aren't used to playing in the rain, and that's two straight matches we play in monsoon conditions.

I'm sure at halftime with a nice "pep talk" by the coach to forget the rain and everything, and just play some ball should do. Peru ain't going out like that. We ain't going out without a good fight. <Ale>

Ghana are an awesome team no doubt. However, my boys can't fucking control the ball, and that's due to the elements. They just don't know how to anticipate the ball sliding in front of them. I don't blame them for they're just not used to that. Ghana are the superior team clearly. <Ale>

I'm not watching the game, but the matchcast makes it sound very one-sided. Ghana have had 10 shots on target and 6 off target, Peru have had 0 shots on target and 1 off target so far, and the possession stats are 58-42.

Ghana have looked very strong in this competition so far.

It is very one-sided. Ghana really should have scored 5 or 6 times, given the chances they had.

I think all but one of the players are from the Peruvian coast. It just doesn't rain in that region. Yes, there's lots of rain in the Andes and a hell of a lot more in the Amazonas. No rain in the coast though.

Ghana are just the better team. I think even under "normal" conditions they would've beaten us although we would've given them a much better game. <Ale>

That's how the weather is in Coastal Perú. It's due to the Ocean current flowing to the North. There's very little to no rain at all.

Our forefathers knew that too well. They drew them Nazca lines knowing that they'll remain forever there.

That's true actually. Peru is almost like a desert on the coast, much like Chile.

    @lionman

I watched a bit of the France-Spain game. France missed quite a few chances. Spain's midfield was horrible. No creativity and couldn't control the game.

Calidad, that is surprising as Spain's midfield is their strength. Camacho offers security; Merida the creativity and its a perfect balance. I love it.

Now we face Ghana in the semi's( Spain always struggles against these powerful, athletic sides scratch) but hopefully Bojan will turn it on in the semi's like he did in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship Semi-final

De Dea is super-talented and got great maturity. Better Goalie then Adan of Real Madrid who's his superior in the Spain Under 20 side

Well you're right. But today Camacho & Ximo didn't control the midfield, and Merida had a poor game. Didn't create much and lost the ball too freqently. Ximo was axed not too long after half time.
