    2-0 England just before halftime. Pearce scoring the second. Syria have probably been the better side in this half so it is a harsh scoreline for them. England are in a strong position now.

    Not me! Just trying to paint a brief picture of the first half for anyone who didn't watch it. Now we just need to keep it tight at the back and hope that Germany can get a goal.

    It's a fair comment. Syria did well throughout this tournament (incl. this match). They had a very tough group & manged to qualfiy for the KO-stages. Kudo's to them.

    By the way if I were English I wouldn't be hoping for a Germany win. They've got a few very good players in their U17s. Rate Toni Kroos higher than anyone in the England squad.

    Kroos is a good player from what I've heard, a few of the German posters talk about him a lot, although I haven't seen him play. I think England have a better chance of progressing against the USA, but it would be more fun to see England play Germany.
