Under 21 World XI Empty Under 21 World XI

Post by Tweesus Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:47 am

I think we might have done this last year at some point, but things change a lot when players are this young. Try and pick an XI of 21 or under that you regard as the best in their position in the world within that age bracket.

FYI, Rooney is still 21 until October 5th Wink

    My squad:

    ------------------------Akinfeev(21)----------------

    Richards(19)--Zapata(20)--Ramos(21)--Bale(18.)

    Messi(20)---Fabregas(20)--Veloso(21)--N'Zogbia(21)

    ----------------Rooney(21)--Benzema(20)-------------

    Kroos? lol!

He's only played about three games as a sub!!!

And Aguero hasn't done anywhere near as much as Rooney - hasn't scored as many goals, hasn't had an impact at a major international tournament, hasn't scored important CL goals against top class teams. Rooney>>>Aguero

player of the u-20 WC, and rooney's big hit was euro 04, imho his career is stalling at the present time, his rate of progress is v worrying from a man utd and england perspective. SAF didn't want to buy him when he did but his hand was forced by newcastle he'd have benefitted from another couple of years with less pressure from playing for such a big club.

AND FFS how can you leave Messi OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Decent team Tweeds. Though I've seen very little of Benzema so I'd have Aguero. I'd also have David Silva over N'Zogbia.

    Also who's Zapata?

What are you on about? He's only stalled for England. For Utd he gets better year on year. Last year he was supposed to have had an off season but he still got his highest goals total of his career! Saying that 17 year old Kroos who's played under 5 games is better than him is BEYOND laughable!

AND FFS how can you leave Messi OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Messi is no right winger, he shouldbe up front way ahead of rooney. he has stalled like it, admit it or NOT he has not turned out to be as good as anybody was suggesting 4 years ago he wont ever make it into a world XI on current progress.

I'm of the impression that Rooney has stagnated to tbh. I've been saying that for a couple of years now. I think he is a fantastic players, and one of the best in his age group (hence his inclusion in my team) but I do not think he will get any better.

Can you find anymore players to be in front of Rooney? Laughing

He's shined at a major International tournament, won a league title scoring 15 goals and 15 assists plus.

So does that mean because Ronaldinho had his best ever tally for Barcelona last season, it was also his best season since joining the club? Stats don't tell the whole story.

Regarding my XI Fernandes, Richards, Affelay & Aissati also deserve honourable mentions.

I'd mention Gourcuff but he hardly ever plays...

The second half of last season he was excellent. The best he's played so far in his career. Not so much the moments of genius he had at the start but consistely excellent and scoring vital goals on top of making goals.

Its not really worth mentioning Gourcuff. He moved to early IMO.

Rooney had his best season to date in the CL. In the league he didn't start to well but I think he struggled having to play through an injury at the world cup. Later on in the season he got better and better
