I hope we play Walcott if that's the case. Very slow centre back pairing.

Also might be a mistake to play Sissoko. Is Masch not fit?

With Pennant out, and Kewell lacking fitness, we haven't got any wingers.

We'll probably play something like this:

    ----------------------Reina------------------------
    -Finnan------Carra--------Hyypia-------Riise---
    -Gerrard----Alonso------Mascherano--Benayoun
    ---------------Kuyt-------Torres------------------

I'm not sure if Agger is back - I haven't read it anywhere...So that might be a big problem for us. I haven't heard anything about Aurelio or Arbeloa who are also injured either. pale

Maybe last year, but this year his passing is so bad he'd probably win the ball and pass it straight back.

    The King of anti-football.

Masch is a better destroyer of Arsenal's type of football though, which isn't about lumping the ball up but about passing and movement

    Does starting Kuyt = 4-5-1?

Wouldn't it be better to start Crouch?

He did score a hat-trick in your last match against Arsenal.

Alonso can control our passing play - Sissoko can just break up Arsenal rhytm - and play it safe....

When we finished with our highest total in the PL - our midfield combo was gerrard Alonso Sissoko and Kewell Ale

I suppose you're right, but Sissoko has been in his poorest form since moving to the club this season. Every singe pass, whether it be simple or not, tends to find an opponent. Masch hasn't been much better though.

He is playing more of a box - box player nowadays, whereas before, when he was playing great for us, he was much more defensive and hardly broke forward -

I say play him and let him do what he does best ok

    I'd stick with Kuyt

IF we play Crouch, theres a tendency(coming from the back four especially) to just hoof it up to the big man - Carragher and Finnan in particular....

Today will show if we really can hack this title race lark or not, it's time for a convincing Liverpool win where we play well, so far this season we haven't really had that bar Derby, we've been scraping wins but the main thing is we're still in a fairly comfortable position.

I don't want to see a cautious side today, I want us to attack Arsenal from the off and try and get the win, I really hope Torres starts, surely he must be fit now after missing the derby and Besiktas, Alonso will probably start as well so we have more than enough talent to cause Arsenal a few problems today.

If we lose then it will almost certainly put us out the title race, even at this early stage

a cautious side winning games is fine for them. But once that stops the real feeling comes out!

Liverpool will rest people for prem games in an attempt to rescue to the champions league group imo. Could lead to more dropped points, so they definitly need to win today.

I think we play fairly attacking against the top sides.

Its against the "non-top" sides that we seem to be all cautious and hence struggle

Sometimes i just wish Rafa would let the attacking players express themselves against inferior teams.

This is one of the only times I've looked forward to these games. Arsenal win and Liverpool are out of the race effectively, good stuff. Liverpool win and Arsenal are pegged back and the theory of them having easy games stands up. A draw though is still the best result for us.

I'm going for a 1-1 with Arsenal dominating the majority of the game. ok

I hate Liverpool more so i would love them to lose and be out of the title race by Oct and then go out of the Champions League. Very Happy

But because Arsenal are very much a confidence team and at the moment the confidence of the players will be be sky high, i want Arsenal to lose, to see how they react to defeat.

However, a Liverpool win will mean having to hear Liverpool fans think they can win the league now. Doh

We know how they'll react - blame the referee, blame the weather, blame the pitch, blame the opposition, blame the fixture calendar, blame the FA, blame God, blame fate, blame anyone except themselves, in particular Wenger.

However, a Liverpool win will mean having to hear Liverpool fans think they can win the league now. Doh

S'alright, they aren't going to win it, so having them blather on about it will make it all the sweeter when your lot have it wrapped up by the end of March.

From a neutral point of view (which obviously I'm not), it would probably be good to see Arsenal win today and then we get to see Arsenal and Man Utd go head-to-head next weekend with both teams in top form and on long winning runs.
