I'm surprised Benayoun isn't playing. He might be a little c**t, but the system that you have there would be perfect for him. If you swapped Lucas for Alonso, and Benayoun for Kuyt, it'd be better.

Benayoun's best position is where you have Kuyt...

A lot of the onus in our team is now on torres and babel. If maicon can deal with babel comfortably then we will have zero creativity. Gerrard is excellent at putting torres through on goal but if inter defend the space properly he may not get the chance. tongiht you will discover again how monumentally $h!t kuyt and lucas are. Or a miracle may happen and they will actually do something useful

But the way Inter play, they will change positions so many times in the game that it will be difficult to decide who was playing where... But Chivu at LB, with Maxwell at LW would be sucidal. It would almost kill off the left side attack.

It's a clever move mancini if that's the case. He has rafa sussed out. We will produce precisely zero attacks down your left side with our formation. If he is trying to squeeze the middle of the pitch that will enable you to win the midfield

Will be watching this match. Dutch tv picked it for me. Hope it will be more exciting than I expect. Lots of Julio Cesar saves & a few Chivu goals & assists please...

Coz maxwell is a vevry attacking fullback, but the few times as a winger he has looked lost... Chivu as a LB may not give him enough support.... but instead if we have Maxwell as a LB, with Stankovic playin ahead, that always results in a more potent attack... tho not as potent as our right..... Zanetti+Maicon, expect most of our attacks from the right in any case!!

Think it makes sense the way Inter uses Chivu & Maxwell. Would always play the most mobile/fatsest as fullback. Furthermore Chivu is a worldclass passer. For how long has he been playing in this role & how many assists did he get while playing it?

All three played EXACTLY three years ago for Ajax against Arsenal in a 1-1 draw at Highbury. Very dissapointing result from our perspective.

Hopefully Vieira can come on later in the game!

Chivu has played the "Pirlo" role Inter quite a few times now (since October - Dacourts injury), and he has been awesome... his passing is so accurate, he has created quite a few goals including one in the weekend. Also, like Pirlo, he can control the tempo of the game and is a good freekick specialist... Under Mancio, Chivu is becoming more of a midfielder than a defender...

So thats where I expect him to play tonight... unless Mancio wants to mix things up and try something new as UEFA fotmation suggests - I hope not, this is not be the right stage to experiment.

ZLATAN MAGIC. All 3 are wonderful players.

To me Chivu has always been the midfielder who could play in defence.

Last minute Vieira winner, Neil Mellor style.

Good on Mancio. Chivu's main strengths are his positional game and his passing. Think this position suits him better. Already looked greaton midfield when playing at Ajax (if he pushed forward). Romania should play him there too. Think he can be vulnerable as defender. he's still good at it, but lacks pace, despite making up for it very well

Good lineup from Inter, good that Mancio didnt take the risk with Vieira. I'm sure, Figo and either Crespo or Suazo will have a part to play.
