before the recent price hike, Gerrard was valued at around £30m. At the same time Ballack was sold for £0m ok

I would say that a Gerrard is worth around 0.6 of a Kaka in today's transfer market. Kaka being 2 years younger obviously has an impact on that.

Messi is probably worth 1.2 Kakas

My favourite ever Gerrard post taken from Redcafe

'Gerrard always was and always will be a poor mans Roy Keane. Even when Keane was 33 with a dodgy hip and knee he'd have Gerrard on a short leash when we ever we played that lot. Keano would slow the game down and Gerrard would be running around like a headless chicken wasting his energy and when he was fucked Keane would speed it up and "Stevie G" would go missing, meandering around the part aimlessly like a looking for his mum in a shopping centre, and after a while, once Gerrard got some energy back and summoned up a bit of courage to sprint around like an idiot again, spraying pointless and easily cut out long balls, Keano would slow it down and Gerrard would do his little fish-out-of-water routine again. If it wasn't so pathetic it might have been funny, and if I have had a little more compassion I'd probably feel sorry for him.

You would have thought he'd grow out of it, but he hasn't.'

His last good game playing in CM against a top team came when the opposition played a Lampard-Mikel CM. Says it all. he'll never be a top class CM to me, because of his inability to retain a ball in possession.

I've always said his best position is as the attacking player in a midfield 3.

When you consider Dolly Parton appears to believe Saha is better than Rooney, I'd say in this bizarre parrallel reality, this comment shouldn't be so hard to believe.

I base it on the fact that whatever anyone thinks about Stevie G in terms of international performances, he has played and won everything there is to win in Club football, other than the Premiership.

In terms of a big game player, few can say they played/scored and won a UEFA cup, FA cup, Super Cup, Champions League and Carling Cup final

On form, he is one of the best impact players out there; irrespective of his known weaknesses or lack of apparent footballing intelligence.

He can be an irresistable force at times.

13 goals this season, and being deemed a failure says it all

Another very good point – a player like him (or Lampard) can work very well in a Chavski-style defensive (and to my taste very unattractive) 4-5-1/4-3-3 with two more defensive midfielders, playing to his strengths and nullifying his weaknesses.

This isn't about what Dolly Parton thinks Bernd; you're a bright guy and we all know what Gerrard's strengths and weaknesses are.

Equally, you know your stuff in football well enough to see why people would consider Ballack a more complete midfielder than Gerrard.

I, probably, have not posted ANYTHING about Gerrard since way before the World Cup

obviously, the WC made him look distinctly average

since then he was even worse in the EC qualifiers

he acted as captain for England where his complete lack of leadership was once again exposed, as said by many of us on here with regard to his "heroic CL performance" against Milan

ever since then, people have stopped talking and raving about Gerrard
