given what each has achieved in the EPL with the resources they've had, benitez has done $h!t. its difficult to use europe as a benchmark as not all of them have managed there

As long as you are willing to admit (as you just have done) that you are excluding a vast majority of rafa's CV on this basis ie the european titles, achievements and titles in Spain

But eh yeah, moyes it is then, who has 'managed there'
i'd pretty much disregard his titles in spain tbh, its like if/when quieroz takes over at OT he'll get them winning LEAGUE titles. that's all benitez did at valencia, cuper left him with an excellent side.

imho it takes more than performing well in europe each season to be a v good manager. i'm sure SAF could have done a lot better in europe IF he'd just worried about the 15 games in that competition every year

When Liverpool thought they had a chance in the Prem before Christmas their record in Europe was P3 D1 L2. It just goes to show what a difference it makes fighting on all fronts like Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have done.

    Biggrin

And when the group ended we eh still had a great chance Lesley. Check the facts

The vast majority of our poor run came when we had no CL games at all

Sorry to ruin your little theory with what actually happened cyclops

    ok

we ran into some indifferent form immediately after we'd qualified from the group stages, winning 2 in 8.

Think people are being very harsh in Grant.

Needs to be given a full season with hiw own ideas and tactics and players.

Keegan barely spent anything at Fulham

    lol!

give me a break! Talk to any Fulham fan, they were spending Premiership money - hundreds of thousands on players (mainly because selling clubs knew they had cash) First Division sides never spent over a million on a player before Keegan*

    *probably

    Give me some examples.

£2 million for Chris Coleman in 1997 when Fulham were in the Second Division.

Tell me that wasn't huge money for a side in the third flight in 1997, it would be now! Off the top of my head I can't tell you but there are countless examples of Keegan spending £250,00 here and £500,000 there on lower league losers.

Steve Finnan signed for £600,000 in the Second Division.

Steve Hayward, Paul Bracewell, Dirk Lehmann, Barry Hayles,

Keegan wasn't the manager in 97. Only Lehmann out of those players was signed by Keegan.

fair enough, Al-Fayed didn't bankroll Fulham to the Premiership, it was Keegan's genius.

Keegan can only take credit for getting them to the championship. Ale
