so Lippi will announce his 23 today

apparantly (according to sky italia) grosso, candreva and rossi will be among those cut.

Lippi has cut 2: Candreva and Grosso. 28 go to the training camp.

I agree, Cossu would be better than Donkey.

But I am afraid its more of Cossu/Montolivo in lippi's mind... one of them (maybe even both) will be cut. If I have to guess, the 5 players Lippi will take out will be:

Sirigu, Cassani, Rossi, Cossu & one of Pazzini/Quags/Borriello

One of Montolivo/Cossu will be cut but not both. He has to take 8 midfielders considering one of the is just a glorified cheerleader!

I think Sirigu, Maggio, Cossu, Quags and Borriello will be cut.

I hope this is true, I really do... Italy needs Prandelli, someone who can build a new side with the younger talent - Prandelli's perfect for that! Italy may not win anything, but by the time Prandelli's done, Italy will have a new side who play beautiful football.

Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli has apparently reached an agreement with the Italian FA to replace Marcello Lippi after the World Cup. La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that the President of the Italian FA, Giancarlo Abete, made Prandelli an offer over the phone on Wednesday evening. They are said to have reached an agreement, which will be formally announced by June 8 when the Italy squad are due to depart for South Africa. Abete had always intended to reveal the future of the Italy job before the World Cup. He was known to like Prandelli but at one point it looked like he might lose him to Juventus who appointed Gigi Del Neri yesterday evening.

Imagine if Prandelli was the boss now. I'm sure he'd play something like this:

They should get Prandelli in now, they would have a much better chance of a good World Cup. Obviously won't happen but still a good idea.

Lippi's been trying out different formations, mainly 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1.

I believe he hasn't ruled out 3-5-2 either.... I see that more as a 5-3-2 tbh
