Was just about to post that! It would be fecking awesome if he finally left, however i doubt it.

Roma are ready to make a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Julio Baptista.

Flush with the cash from Amantino Mancini's sale to Inter Milan, Roma intend to table an offer for Baptista, who is available for £8 million at Real.

Corriere dello Sport says Roma coach Luciano Spalletti intends to return Baptista to his favoured position as striker if a deal can be struck.

Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro has publically criticized FIFA president Joseph Blatter for his statements on the Cristiano Ronaldo matter...

The FIFA president did not hesitate to compare Ronaldo's situation to modern slavery as the British outfit are willing to do everything they can to retain the services of the Portuguese ace despite endless approaches from Real Madrid, most of them through the press.

Cannavaro has played down Blatter's statement, saying that "talking about slavery nowadays are big words."

Although Ronaldo would be a quality asset to his own squad, Cannavaro acknowledges that the Manchester United star should stay out of this summer saga.

"When you sign something, you should fulfill it," Cannavaro concluded.

Real Madrid's first team squad will travel to the Algarve, Portugal, on Monday in order to undertake a "Pre-pre-season" gathering...

The Bernabéu hierarchy are keen for the players to enter the new campaign in the best possible state, and to this end they will carry out a pre-season tour of Austria this year, as last.

But prior to their heading to central Europe, the squad will first of all spend a week in the Algarve for some prior preparation.

It is an unusual setup. The players are welcome (and indeed encouraged) to bring their families with them to the training base. This is in order to ease the transition back into the working season.

Whether or not such a gamble wil pay off remains to be seen, but the Madrid coaching staff seem confident that the familial atmosphere will motivate the players.

Training will be fitness-based but light in Portugal, with players encouraged to play tennis, try some basketball, or swim during their time off.

After one week in the Algarve the squad will bid farewell to their loved ones before flying out for Austria, where the real pre-season work begins

LA Galaxy star David Beckham has had a dig at Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon.

Beckham told Marca: "Calderon cares about Madrid, but I prefer Florentino (Perez), he always has shown the club is close to his heart."

The England midfielder also revealed: "I would like to return to work with Real Madrid, to be part of their staff in the future would be a wonderful thing."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid striker Roberto Soldado has put the brakes on a move to Getafe.

The two clubs have already agreed terms over a transfer fee for the Spain international, who doesn't want to leave Real in an outright deal.

Soldado only wants a loan move and would be prepared to take a pay-cut to smooth a move to Getafe - so long as it is only for one season.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid goalkeeper Jordi Codina's move to Benfica has stalled.

AS says negotiations over Codina's transfer fee are dragging on, with Real demanding at least £1.5 million for the young shot-stopper.

Benfica have already clinched a deal for Codina's Real teammate Javier Balbao and are also eyeing striker Javier Saviola.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Mallorca sports chief Nando Pons admits they're being priced out of a deal for Real Madrid striker Roberto Soldado.

"Roberto would be a good replacement for Dani Guiza, but the transfer fee and his salary is too much for us," said Pons. "A club like Mallorca cannot compete against such amounts."

Getafe CF have announced the capture of Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero on a five-year deal...

The Azulones enjoyed the services of 'The Pirate' last year on a loan deal, during which he starred alongside fellow Madrid alumnus Rubén de la Red.

De la Red has since returned to the Bernabéu by virtue of a buy-back deal, and it seemed as though Granero was also likely to remain in the white shirt: as recently as last month he stated that his goal was to break through into Bernd Schuster's first team for 08-09.

Now, though, Geta have officially announced that the 21-year-old is to grae the Coliseum once more next season as he pens a five-year deal.

However, like de la Red his transfer comes complete with a buy-back clause that could see him return to Real Madrid at any given time.

Granero made 19 Liga starts and eight substitute appearances, chipping in with four goals and a wealth of assists. An attacking midfielder, he was mainly deployed on the left-hand side of the pitch, although he also played centrally.

Also of note was his UEFA Cup form, which entailed four goals in nine appearances during the Azulones' run to the quarter-finals.

The Madrid-born ace has never made a Liga appearance for Real Madrid.

Raul begins Real Madrid preseason in the best shape of his career.

El Mundo Deportivo says Raul has put his omission from Spain's Euro2008 triumph to good use by hiring a personal trainer to work with him this summer.

Raul has concerns over the potential arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United and is doing all he can to maintain his first-choice status. The appointment of Vicente del Bosque as new Spain coach

Back in Madrid, Robinho will meet with Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic today to discuss his future.

AS says Robinho made the trip from Sao Paulo over the weekend with the intention to thrash out any differences with management over his place in Real's plans for the new season.

Robinho has confessed to close friends he's unhappy with the way he has been treated by Real and also wants to know from Mijatovic if they intend to offer him a new contract.

Mijatovic was unhappy with Robinho's admission that he would fancy joining Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea and will demand an explanation from the Brazilian.

Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has blanked Spanish reporters over questions about a potential move to Real Madrid.

Reports last week suggested Van der Vaart had agreed personal terms with Real, but at Hamburg training yesterday, the Dutchman would only say: "I cannot speak of Madrid. I will not speak Spanish. Bye."

Esteban Granero has admitted that he has still not given up hope of returning to Real Madrid and becoming a regular in the first team despite leaving for a second time.

The 21-year-old went back to the Bernabéu at the end of last term following a season on loan at Getafe, but has now signed a permanent deal to stay with los Azulones for the next five seasons.

Included in his contract however, is the right for Madrid to buy him back and he is confident that if he continues to play well then that will happen

"I hope some day to be able to return to Real Madrid," he explained.

Granero has been at Madrid since the age of eight, but he was keen to continue playing regularly at the top level next term and Bernd Schuster could not promise him that.

Now he believes that he can help Getafe to enjoy a similar campaign to the one that saw them fans across Europe last time out.

"Now I want to be able to help Getafe do as well, if not better, than last season," he added.

He's yet to make a single apperance for RM, so it looks unlikely.
