Real usually don't know what player's best positions are, maybe you've got it right in this case....

VDV is at his best as a free roaming second striker, second best as a number 10 (attacking playmaker) and thirdly he'll still do well in any other role on midfield.

If you play 4-4-2 with Ruud and VDV as strikers you might be doing very well...

And even if we do know what the player's best position is, Pedja ignores and thinks "Yeah, we already have four second strikers but why not sign one more, maybe he can slot in at right back". Doh

f@ck off with him, VDV is no Real Madrid quality! A.Madrid is the limit for him, sums him up as well...good but not the best!

    I'm thinking he might try a 4-3-3.

    ---------------Casillas---------------

    Ramos----Pepe-Cannavaro--Heinze

    -----------------Gago----------------

    ----------Sneijder--De La Red------

    -------Robben-------Van Der Vaart-

    ------------------RVN----------------

    Robben for Raul
    Granero for DLR or Sneijder.

If I was Granero, DLR or Javi Garcia I'd think about leaving ASAP.

It will probably be a variation of the odd 4-3-3 he employed last year:

    -------------------------------------Casillas

    S. Ramos/Torres---Cannavaro/J. Garcia---Pepe/Metzelder---Marcelo/Heinze

    -------------------------Gago/De la Red/Diarra

    -----v.d. Vaart/Granero---------------Sneijder/Guti

    ----------------Raul/Higuain------------------------------Robinho/Robben

    ---------------------------------v. Nistelrooy

Van der Vaart is no lesser player than Guti. Certainly got more consistency. But we certainly don't need the luxury of him in the bench, do we? And last thing we need is the dutch camp assembling by Schuster. On a side note, Bundesliga is a bit underrated (there you go again, I'm sure few would reckon "overrated"). But It's a good league. Doesn't quite have the hype of EPL, or the myth of Serie A, and the glamour of La liga. But the matches aren't bad so to speak. They have big names (incl. the ones who failed in Euros, Gomez, Toni, etc), physical game with considerable tempo in attack, and also got fair share of flair players expressing themselves. Hamburg is a good club, and he doesn't have to move to Spurs (definitely). Athletico is a better choice, will make their starting lineup easily.

So with VDV you'll have more Dutch than Spanish players in your likely line up. How would that go down?

More information (according to AS) about the van de Vaart transfer:

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Personally, I think Robinho should be an "untouchable" and I think he has shown enough in 3 seasons not to be sold. I really fear that if we sell him now, he will become a superstar in his next team and we'll be kicking ourselves for selling him. I could be wrong but only time will tell.

Also, from what I understand Schuster's 4-3-3 from last season had more to do with our lack of wingers, but this season he intends to implement a classic 4-4-2. However, if we do sign Van Der Vaart, it may be the case that Schuster will stick with his 4-3-3. Can't see how Gago/Guti/Sneijder/VDV could ever work in a 4-4-2 formation.

If we sell him, he could go on to be great. But that doesn't mean if we keep him he will go on to be great by default. Somtimes things don't work out. Like Cambiasso for example. He was never great for us. But he's gone on to be quite good for Inter. If he had stayed would he have ever reached the same level? Who knows. It's impossible to say.

True, but I think Cambiasso's case is much different. He was too slow for La Liga and not good enough on the ball. Seria A is tailor made for his type of game. To me, there is no doubt that La Liga is perfect for Robinho's game. I can't see how he would do better in the Premiership than La Liga, so if he's a big success there then he would obviously be in Spain IMO.

6m€ is adequate for Saviola, covers his wages and leaves 3m€ ok

Soldado, like others before him such as Javier Portillo, was the one could have been but never haves. It has got worse since "I-never-trust-the-youth-system-but-my-whores" Scheister got in charge (mind you, he's probably follwoing the order of the greasmonkey of the football). As far as I'm concerned, Mata is the wise one who is more realistic and ernest to playing the game in some sense than others with false hope/promise and/or easy money. We never really know if Soldado's lack of opportunities was down to his quality or not.

The problem for us is that the club is becoming (and/or perceived to be) more like "Robbens and Ronaldos" rather than "Zidanes and Pavones", so more egoistic shits with shrewd vulture like agents to please real CUNT5 like some one with ill-gotten power like shittier-than-Dabya (you know who he is) are the only ones likely to play for us.

I'll support the club as long as the likes of Iker playing for us, but I may have to think about of giving it up all together! (Could be a bit of a Friday afternoon <Ale> <Ale> <Ale> <Ale> talk?!)
