Seems that the deal will be finalized this weekend in London with both teams in town for the Emirates Cup. But you have it right. He is a good player and Marca claim we can get him for 10m. but if there is one thing we don't need, it's another mediapunta. Sneijder can not play deeper, he was very ineffective playing like that last season. If we wanted to have another attacking midfielder we should have kept Granero.

100% Agree with you Jaime. He is not exactly what most RM fans(including myself) here were looking for or indeed what the team needs, but in this situation its better him than C.Ronaldo IMO.

I don't think anyone is disputing the fact he is a good player, i might be wrong be i remember a few RM fans who wanted us to sign him instead of Sniejder(personally i prefered and still prefer Sniejder), we just need players in other positions more.

I think a lot of this depends on whether Schuster plays 4-3-3 next season. If he does, then getting VDV will not necessarily mean overcrowding. And we must admit that Sneijder/VDV/Ruud were a great combination in the Euro, and they could reproduce that with us.

But the bottom line, IMO, is that we still have not addresse the primary deficiency in the squad which a 9. If Ruud sustains a long term injury what good does it do to have 100 attacking midfielders?

I think VDV would be a huge improvement over, say, Baptista. But it still does not change the fact that Pedja is clueless about planning a squad.

Hopefully we will actually sign Villa. If we address the '9' then I won't have any issues with signing VDV. Also, we need to find a way to get rid of Baptista and Saviola.

    Axe
this is not a question of quality. anybody can see that Vdv is wonderful player to watch and he can also lead his team as he has shown for Hamburger. Snejider is only a better shooter and works more.
the thing is though that currently we already have snejider and a youth product that has more then deserved to get a chance in the team(De La Red). it is a steal but that doesnt make it a smart buy.

anyway Shuster has just complained againt that he gets no information about anything at the club and that he is always last to know. what is worrying about this is that he said this before i remember before we met Bremen in Cl and it seems nothing has changed since. if Calderon and Mijatovic had any respect for the club they would resign.

You said two things : Sneijder working more than VDV is like saying Guti works more than Kuyt....

I don't think there's much difference between VDV's and Sneijder's shooting, only difference is that Sneijder (like Lampard) takes a shot at goal every opportunity he gets, while VDV has more eye (and ability) to play it to teammates.

Well i know Snejiders rep of working before he came and that is why i worried about him playing in a 3 man midfield. But in his Madrid time he has worked alot with much energy which kind of surprised us. allthough he is a bit headless in his defensive work.

Ok apparently Parejo will be loaned out to.....Queens Park Rangers. Laugh
he will be there for 2 years and perhaps he can pick up some english traits while keeping his style. strange move for him since he could easily have been loaned out to Primera side.

Also i cant see past VDV joining us soon. we want to pay 9 mil euros and they want 12 mil euros and knowing Mijatovic they will announce a deal of 15 mil euros soon. only way it wont happen is if Ronaldos quotes from AS are to belived today.

"Everything is fine. Next week I will return to England and tell them [Manchester United] that my only desire is to play for Real Madrid and that I will not negotiate," Ronaldo told AS

It is AS but that it is pretty direct quotes i would say. hopefully nothing happens. i would much prefer VDV to Ronaldo. he will be a consistent creative outlet which is something we dont get with Guti. also be good to see Snejider-VDV in midfield but it will once again push youth product on the bench with no chance.

Yes, it's a good decision to let him go on loan although for me it makes more sense to send him to another Primera team than to a team in the Championship.

But in the same breath, Marca report that we are trying to sign some kid named Kruska from Dortmund...for Castilla. Doh

They really are a bunch of fucktards over at Castle Greyskull. Both Espanyol and Getafe were after his loan signing so you send him to QPR. HOOF!

God, I hope Valencia/Villareal win the league this season.

I hope Barça win it and Celta get promoted <Ale>
