The sponsorship is a good point though...Kaka's an Adidas player (their biggest one along with Messi) and Milan are an Adidas club.

Milan are invested in by Finnivest, Berlu's company, so technically they do have to answer to shareholders.

If they meet Messi's release clause, what would Barca do?

Like Messiah said, release clauses apparently only apply in the same country.

Surely if the release clause was low enough you could just pay off another Spanish club to purchase the player to get around that loop hole? A player can definitely be purchased by another club and then sent out on loan to another club in the same season, so even if there was a registration problem there's another loop hole available.

Yup that's a way around it, but I don't know if it'll ever be tried due to the complications and legal details involved.

A player can play for two different clubs in one season, so it's possible.

Are you suggesting that someone like City would pay a poor Spanish club the release fee in Messi's contract so they could buy him and then loan him off said poor Spanish club?

Yeah, it's a pity Messi was poached from Argentina. And that Real Madrid youth set up were stupid enought to let Iniesta go.

Messi moved to Barca at the age of 7 didn't he? I thought Barvca offered to pay for treatment for a growth condition that he had and that's why his familt emigrated?!?!?

    Anyway,

What's the latest on Kaka Question

The paper rumours seem to change every day! The latest is that its all just Berlusconi playing some sort of twisted game!

It was when he was 11 or 12 I think...basically his club at the time released him, but Barça (I think it was Carles Rexach who spotted him) agreed to bring him to Spain and pay for his treatment and train him.

Re. Kaka, I think his father and other advisors were scheduled to travel to Manchester today for discussions.

Maybe Messi really was older..like the rumours about Martins and Kanu, they just looked young. Messi was a dwarf wasnt he? Might've been a teenager the size of a 7 yr old.

The Rockefellers started selling their Citigroup shares (well, some of them) before the credit crunch, mostly to Arabs. They consolidated their holdings in the JP Morgan (i.e. Rothschild) - Chase Mahattan conglomerate, which is now the world's leading derivatives player.

Basically, Citigroup took the hit, but ultimately they'll have made more money through JP Morgan-Chase than they lost through Citigroup, which has now been split in two.

So, the Arabs lose trillions, making them considerably less powerful in the world market, while JP Morgan and Barclays buy up the competition.

This isn't controversial. This is what happened. Credit crunch=manufactured.

Er, no. He was *approached* by Madrid, but because of the reason you mentioned above, his parents turned it down and picked Barça instead.

    Kas is right

    TM is wrong.

He was never with madrid, not even for a week, much less 1 year. they invited him to come and see their training facilities and they walk away because of its location.

I remember Grahame Hunter (Anti Madrid as they come) saying that Iniesta trained with Real for a bit (not sure about how long exactly), before moving on. He's hardly going to make that up, he's one of spain's most knowledgeable sports writer.

I've already tried looking for the article where I read about it, but couldn't find it. If I see it again I'll be sure to post it Ale

And I'd hardly call Graham Hunter one of Spain's most knowledgeable writers. He's not even the most knowledgeable English-writing writer on Spanish football.
