I expect him to, he was suspended for Saturday's game and only played part of the Portsmouth game because he was injured. I think he played most of Spain's game last week so should be fit.

Oh, I saw him in the stands against City but didn't know why he didn't play. Ale

I hope Madrid goes through, with all the c**ts on the bench while Kuyt scored a hattrick and Torres got a broken nose by Ramos.

    That would be awesome tbh.

You shouldn't be so harsh on Torres. Remember that there is a good chance that he will literally crap his pants at the sight of having to face San Iker again. There's rumors that he will be wearing a diaper in case that happens so he doesn't have to go change until the half is over. Having Ramos break his nose is too great a punishment.

We don't need to make fun of Torres because we owe him for all the owning he has done of Barcelona through the years and for the fact he never showed any of that potential against us. Barca Torres is ace. <Ale>

Real Madrid President Vicente Boluda: We Will Beat Liverpool 3-0
As Los Blancos’ form continue to improve in leaps and bounds, their confidence continues to grow and no one has shown that more than the club’s stand-in president.

As Real Madrid prepare to entertain Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 first leg clash on Wednesday night, club supremo, Vicente Boluda has fired up his charges by predicting a comprehensive victory for the Men In White.

“It will be a great game against Liverpool and I think we will beat them 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu,” he boomed during an interview with Cadena COPE, before going on to add, “In the second leg at Anfield, they will score against us, but we will win 2-1.”

Not for the first time, the former vice-president has also trumpeted his belief that the side will go on to win the double this term.

“I already said it last week and I will say it again. We are going to win La Liga and the Champions League.

“But regardless of whether or not we win the double, I will not remain as the president beyond this season,” he declared.

Boluda, however, was more optimistic regarding Juande Ramos’ future as the Blancos coach.

“He is a great trainer and I support him completely and I would be thrilled if he stays on at Madrid.

“And as I believe that we will win a title, I also believe that his contract will be renewed automatically,” he concluded.

Boluda confirmed that the club’s presidential elections will be held after June 30, although no specific date has been set. But with Juande’s current term with Madrid expiring around that same time, it will be up to the potential candidates to decide if they want to keep him at the Bernabeu.

    miran siempre tus laureles
    con respeto y emoción

    ¡Hala Madrid!, ¡Hala Madrid!
    A triunfar en buena lid,

¡Hala Madrid!, Hala Madrid!, Hala Madrid!

    Enemigo en la contienda,
    cuando pierde da la mano
    sin envidias ni rencores,
    como bueno y fiel hermano

    Los domingos por la tarde,

    van alegres y risueñas
    porque hoy juega su Madrid

    RAMOS SETS THREE-GOAL TARGET

Real Madrid manager Juande Ramos has set his team the target of securing a "decisive" three-goal advantage in the first-leg of their Champions League tie with Liverpool.

Unperturbed by Liverpool's reputation for boasting one of the most formidable defensive units in Europe, the former Tottenham coach has predicted that winger Arjen Robben will be the key to unlocking Rafa Benitez's side.

"Arjen has been spectacular since I arrived. He is different to the rest and has those very rare qualities of speed and an ability to get past defenders," declared Ramos.

"I am looking for a three-goal advantage because that could be decisive and would make going to Anfield that much easier."

Ramos also downplayed the news that Steven Gerrard had been named in the Liverpool squad for the tie despite not featuring for the past three weeks, claiming that he always expected the midfielder to feature.

"Ever since the injury happened and they gave him a three-week recovery period I interpreted it as a strategy. At no point did I think he might not play," he said.
That is whay I want to hear from a manager. None of that bullshit about how it is a even match and such crap. Shows alot of balls by saying this allthough he will no doubt be held to the words if things go bad. Just hopes the team shows the intent to go all out on Liverpool.

The entire squad trained earlier today so Juande has all 25 players at his disposition (minus Huntelaar, of course). Will be interesting to see which 18 he calls into the squad.

It just means that they've been left out of the squad as a result of the managers choice (i.e not suspended, not injured).

Im not so sure. We were in great form 3 years ago against Arsenal playing some super football but Arsenal went catenaccio and got an easy victory. Allthough I gues it also had to do with the fact that people were surprised by how defensive Arsenal were.

If Liverpool do the same it wouldn't surprise, nonetheless playing football against the likes of Betis and Gijon is vastly different then doing the same against a side like Liverpool. A quick goal would allow us to play more but I think Benitez has his side to well set up for it.

You were well outplayed in that first leg at the Bernabeu and should have been behind long before Titi's superb goal. The second leg was one of the better 0-0's I've seen.

No doubt that Arsenal got a lot of chances on the counter but they stayed back with all they could and hit us. Was pretty much no space to play for us and that team was way too offensive compared to what we had defensively. Also I wouldn't call having it easy on the counter attack, outplaying but I gues to each his own.

I would hardly call playing deep in your own half and managing a few dangerous counter attacks as "outplaying the opposition". Both games were quite even, though overall Arsenal deserved to go through because they created more chances. Arsenal played like a clever Italian team throughout that CL, rather than truly outplaying any rivals.

That being said, I think our current situation differs from 2005 because back then the teams we were beating before we played Arsenal were all in the bottom half of the table. We also had a clueless coach in Lopez Caro. Our current run includes wins against Sevilla, Valencia, and Villareal (even though they weren't too convincing) and we have a smart tactical coach in Juande.

I can't pretend "sitting back, having it easy and hitting you on the counter" is quite how I remember that tie, I remember an Arsenal team in disarray, universally written off and with Sol Campbell just having walked out who could have been three up in the first half against a Madrid team who I didn't think were bad at all. It's not that easy to win in the Bernabeu so I don't really get accusations of Liverpool- or Chavski-like cynicism. The first tie was an absorbing battle which we edged and the second was hardly that cagy for a 0-0, we brought on Bobby Pirès for god's sake, who can't tackle, when we needed to hold the clean sheet. But as you will have it...

Good luck to both you lot for tomorrow night anyway Ale

Im not so sure. We were in great form 3 years ago against Arsenal playing some super football but Arsenal went catenaccio and got an easy victory. Allthough I gues it also had to do with the fact that people were surprised by how defensive Arsenal were.

If Liverpool do the same it wouldn't surprise, nonetheless playing football against the likes of Betis and Gijon is vastly different then doing the same against a side like Liverpool. A quick goal would allow us to play more but I think Benitez has his side to well set up for it.

We didn't mention anything about the situation of Arsenal at the time. What we did say was that Arsenal just sat back which is what they did. If you see that as outplaying then that is ok.

What do people expect the respective teams' midfields to be?
