The final tournament will be held in Germany cheers

The 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship will be held in Germany from 6-18 May with the slogan 'Fußball kennt keine Grenzen' – football knows no borders.

    Venues

Twelve eastern German towns in all will stage matches during the finals: 2003 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship venues Markranstadt, Taucha, Grimma and Torgau plus Dessau-Rosslau, Sandersdorf, Jena, Meuselwitz, Erfurt, Gera, Gotha and Magdeburg. The semi-finals will be played in Dessau-Rosslau and Grimma on 15 May with the decider at the 25,000-capacity Stadion Magdeburg, completed in 2006.

The final qualification round (4 country mini-tourneys, winner qualifying) has already started.

    Fixtures/Results:

    Standings:

    http://www.uefa.com/competitions/under17/standings/index.html

Holland & Spain already have won their group & Italy are 99.999% certain they'll qualify with 1 match to be played.

In group 4 France & denmark won their first match.

3 groups haven't started yet. Group 7 with England, Hungary, Serbia & Portugal looks by far the toughest.

    The England team:

    http://www.uefa.com/competitions/under17/teams/team=400039/index.html

John Bostock and Jack Wilshere - England's future midfield, are both in the England squad ok

Emmanuel Frimpong is on our books I think - I'm pretty sure he's a left winger.

Jonjo Shelvey has been getting good reviews this season too - will be interested to see how the manager approaches this. I imagine he'll push Wilshere out to one of the wings and play Shelvey and Bostock as the central midfield?

Spain will finish with one of the best defensive records.

Why?, because 3 of the back four are from la masia.

Spain will not win the championship

Why?, because none of the attacking players are from la masia.

Nope all matches are played in Hungary. These U whatever QF tourneys are always half-competitions hosted by 1 of the participating nations.

By the way Serbia beat Hungary 1-0, so ngland & the Serbs are tied at the top.

In group 5 Italy have qualified by winning twice, they only have to play Scotland, who already lost twice. Even if they lose they KO the winner of the Austria v Georgia match, because they already beat them.

Shaping up nicely for a great final tourney, so far qualified:

Germany (hosts), Spain, Italy & Holland.
