    Today's rumour mill from Marca:

*Chevantón could be on his way to Málaga. He is not in the plans of Manolo Jiménez at Sevilla and Fernando Sanz wants him although his wages could be an obstacle.

*Jesús Gámez is linked with Sevilla (nothing new there)

*Matías Fernández could be headed to Osasuna although he supposedly has offers from England and the UAE as well.

*Racing is close to signing Numancia defender Juanra. Not sure why anyone would want a Numancia defender but anyway...

*In the end it looks like Jeremy Mathieu will be moving to the Mestalla; Valencia would get the french fullback on a free transfer.

Lacruz and Rufete are leaving Espanyol, the club is not going to renew their contracts. Finnan, Valdo, Beranger and Torrejón could also be on the way out if offers come in. Apparently they've received offers for Nene and have been asked about Sergio Sanchez as well. Could be a completely new-look team next season.

    Today's rumours from Marca:

*Valencia will not be counting on the services of right back Miguel next season and has been told to look for another club.

*Fernando Morientes has been offered a six month contract by Santos. He also has offers from Turkey.

*Mallorca may have to sell Arango and Moyá (recently linked with Barcelona) because they still owe Athletic money from the Aduriz transfer last year.

*Tamudo looks set to leave Espanyol; England is his probable destination

*Juve and Barcelona will battle it out for the services of Deportivo full back Filipe Luis.

*Málaga interested in Abdullah Elyasa Süme (who!?!?!?!), right back from Turkish club Ankaragücü.

*Málaga also in for Deportivo goalkeeper Fabricio.

*Osasuna contemplating selling Plasil but want no less than 15m euro for him; several English clubs are said to be interested.

*Greek club Olympiacos is offering 1m euro for Sevilla defender Dragutinovic.

*Current Betis and ex-Real Madrid midfielder Alberto Rivera is being targeted by Sporting Gijón; his signing could be made official within the next few days.

    Couple of questions -

Haven't heard much about Miguel at all lately with everything focused on Villa and Silva but how much would Valencia want for him? Also considering it's only a rumour from Marca, do you lot believe they will sell him? Considering we need a RB and a quality attacking one plus Johnson possibly Chelsea bound again, he'd be perfect though a bit old(29).

Has Plasil been any good this season to warrant Osasuna's asking price?

I wouldn't mind Arango or Tamudo for us now as back up.

I have no idea but my guess is Valencia would probably like to get around 10m euro for Miguel. They have Alexis who can play right back and they are also close to signing Jeremy Mathieu on a free who I think can play both left and right full back so they don't really need Miguel and obviously they need to generate some cash.

Plasil has been one of Osasuna's better players, although his statistics aren't that great (4 goals, 7 assists). 15m euro seems a bit much to me, probably 10m euro would be more realistic.

    More rumours from Marca:

*Claudio Bravo - linked with us earlier in the week Yikes - is wanted by Unai Emery. In fact, Emery has told the club not to renew Cesar's contract in order to pursue Real Sociedad's Chilean goalkeeper.

*Málaga want to sign Xavi Torres (Barcelona); it would be a permanent deal with Torres getting a five year contract

*Málaga are also interested in Zaragoza midfielder Antonio Hidalgo

*Ivica Dragutinovic looked to be headed to Greece but Olympiacos can't meet the players wage demands. Sevilla are not counting on the defender for next year.

*Sporting have rejected an offer from Atlético for their young left back José Ángel. Sporting have shown interest in loaning Atlético players Valera and De la Cuevas and they were trying to work José Ángel into the deal but Sporting believes they are separate operations.

*Sporting will present Alberto Rivera (Betis) next week.

I don't know, Bravo is currently in the second division. Maybe he would go?

Xavi Torres is the defensive midfielder I think. He played against Mallorca at the end of the season.

I don't think Sporting will sell both Canella and José Ángel so they'll probably just wait and see what happens.

Real stunned by £80m tag on Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    Jonathan Northcroft

The overheated football transfer market is showing no sign of cooling, with Real Madrid hot on the trail of yet another exorbitantly expensive forward, Internazionale’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Representatives of the player met Real officials earlier this month and have also held talks with Barcelona, after Inter indicated they would be willing to sell their leading scorer.

The fee Inter are looking for is understood to be close to the world record £80m Real Madrid agreed for Cristiano Ronaldo. Barcelona were scared off by the price tag. Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s new president, must have taken a deep breath but has not dropped his interest — even though he has also signed Kaka for £56m. Real are expected to sign Valencia goalscorer David Villa for £34m this week and are chasing Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who might cost upwards of £20m.

Perez is budgeting for an outlay of about €300m (£255m) this summer to build a “spectacular” team and argues much of the money can be recouped. His motto is “the most expensive things are the cheapest” because great players repay much of their huge fees through increased ticket sales and greater commercial contracts. He also plans to raise funds via player sales and is willing to offload Real’s entire Dutch contingent, which has put Premier League clubs on alert. Tottenham are interested in striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, available for £15m, while Arjen Robben has been offered to Liverpool with Gabriel Heinze as makeweights in any deal for Alonso.

Ibrahimovic, 27, has scored 57 goals in 88 Serie A appearances for Inter but relations have cooled between the Swede and his coach, Jose Mourinho. Inter are unlikely to get £80m for the striker who, as the best-paid player in the world until Kaka moved to Real Madrid, also has hefty wage demands, but Perez could try to tempt the Italians with a player-plus-cash deal involving the Argentinian Gonzalo Higuain.

At home, Portsmouth confirmed that Glen Johnson is likely to leave this summer. Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are interested in the England full-back, who left Stamford Bridge in 2007. A fee of £20m could be the asking price.

Having ruled out Ibrahimovic, Barça are competing with Manchester United — and, inevitably, Real — for Franck Ribery for a fee of about £65m. United have also made an inquiry about Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o, who with one year left on his contract, is available for less than £30m, but the Cameroonian striker’s salary demands make Manchester City stronger suitors. United are on the brink of signing Antonio Valencia from Wigan after making a formal offer of £17.5m for the Ecuador winger and are also chasing Lyons striker Karim Benzema.

Meanwhile, respected sources in Italy report Paolo Maldini, recently retired after 25 years with AC Milan, is about to join Chelsea’s coaching staff. In any other week, that would be big news but yesterday it was just a footnote with the transfer market in such a feverish state.

Perez'd be an idiot to sell Higuain. Doh

Nakamura - Espanyol have a good chance if they put enough money on the table. He wanted to go back to Yokohama Marinos to educate his kids in Japan, but they could only offer a derisory package (their owner, Nissan, are in a bad way).

VICTOR VALDES IS OLD TRAFFORD TARGET Shocked
Barca keeper's pay demand sparks Manchester United interest

MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping an eye on Barcelona's Victor Valdes after his contract talks broke down.

The Catalan keeper's deal runs out at the end of next season - and he wants parity with the Spanish club's top out-field stars.

United have tracked Valdes all season but expected his contract to be settled after his end-of-season heroics in the Champions League. But Barca have been stunned by the 27-year-old's £7.6million pay demands.

President Joan Laporta said: "We have a wage structure and we are not planning to change it.

"We were surprised to hear what the player wanted. I'd like to think he is aware of what his agent has asked for."

United had turned their attentions to Villarreal keeper Diego Lopez but could now refocus on the Barca man.

No disloyalty meant but .... lol!

Don't think there's anything to it. I'll be shocked if any other CL club in Italy/Spain/England comes in for Valdes (though he may be an improvement for Milan). The club knows they have him and his agent by the balls...they either agree, or go to Galatasaray.
