New rumour about Stuttgart being in for Hleb, as he has not yet completed his move to Inter...any idea about this?

The Hleb rumours have been around forever (and by that I mean every time he's looked unhappy at a club), so I don't think there is much to it. He has always said he'd love to end his career with us, but earlier this summer, he also said that playing for us again wasn't an option now.

Yep, now the German media is reporting it also. Supposedly, Stuttgart will sign Hleb on a loan and the Pogrebnyak deal is done also.

    http://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/bundesliga/0907/News/alexander-hleb-vor-rueckkehr-zum-vfb-stuttgart.html

That would be great news for Stuttgart if true. Two very good signings.

Well, Hleb's career 'took off' in Stuttgart, that's where he probably had his best seasons even. They will welcome him with open arms I think, he always stayed in contact with the club, and German press even.

Stuttgart will definitely be a force to reckon with if they manage to sign both Hleb and Pogrebnyak.

Watch us start moaning about him being a waster of chances and balls by Christmas should it happen. Also, these days, I don't believe anything unless there is an official press conference and photo/video of the player actually signing his contract with us.

Alex is lovely as a person and I'd happily welcome him back in a few years time, however, at the moment, the whole thing leaves a sour aftertaste, especially considering his comments just a few weeks ago that "Stuttgart ist kein Thema im Moment". Kind of like we're his last resort now that everything else has failed, he'll come crawling back to us. Pffffffffffft.

10.21 According to Wolfsburger Nachrichten, Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins will undergo a medical with Wolfsburg today ahead of signing a four-year contract.

I think him and Dzeko can be a very good partnership.

Grafite was topscorer of the league last season and won't go anywhere. He is a definite starter, as is Dzeko. They are the best striker partnership of the league.

But they do miss games once in a while, and Wolfsburg will have a lot of matches to play next season, that's when Martins will get his chance.

I think £9 million for Martins represents good value for Wolfsburg, and a fair deal for us given the situation we are in. I think Martins should be able to excel in the Bundesliga. He lacks composure on the pitch, and he hasn't been aided in this respect by the way we have sometimes played him out of position, and by the lack of service we've offered him throughout his spell with us, but he possesses all the attributes that make for a quality striker; he has tremendous pace, he is a very capable finisher with both feet though he tends to lash at the ball too often, I think his build-up play can be pretty good and duly patient and thoughtful, and he's incredibly strong and dangerous in the air given his height. He could work a bit on his touch, but generally I think he just needs a settled atmosphere, games, and a manager who will show some faith in him. I think he's a quite cheery guy off the pitch - he settled well in Newcastle, and I hope he is given games and settles in Germany.

I am concerned with Veh's suggestion that Martins will potentially offer Wolfsburg something from a wide position - he can't play as a winger or as a wing-forward - he is very much a central striker, better at leading the line and stretching the opposition's defence than he is even playing deeper off a partner.

Gives Wolfsburg additional tactical advantage that they can now easily adapt to a 433 if they want, three excellent strikers.

Veh is a 4-4-2 fan, and I really can't see him play Martins on the wing in a 4-4-2, that would be way too risky. I do think that they primarily signed him as a striker / forward.

Wolfsburg already had a strong team and they did not lose any key players, but actually improved their squad. They'll definitely have a say in the title race, although it remains to be seen how Veh will do, and how they will deal with the additional burden of the CL. Last season, they started their run of form that won them the championship after they were knocked out of Europe.

i think thats the first time in the bundesliga in many years that no team that plays in europe is weaker then the season before

stuttgart, wolfsburg, bayern, hsv, bremen (ok diego is gone, özil marin could step up), in my eyes those teams have now better squads

If we don't sign Pizarro (and ideally another DM), I'd say that we (=Werder) are weaker than last season. I agree with the rest of the teams. Hopefully, this means that we will have another good season in Europe.

Fiorentina are interested in Hoffenheim's Andreas Beck, as their sporting director confirms.

    http://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/bundesliga/0907/Artikel/andreas-beck-interesse-ac-florenz-transfer-1899-hoffenheim.html

Don't think that he'll leave Hoffenheim this soon though, especially not in the last season before the WC. Beck has a good chance to become a starter on the RB position in the national team.
