I think Tim Vickery thought he was a good player in Brasil. Has a lot of potential.

The Russian/Ukrainian sides have done well bring in such talent. Guilherme + Willian are others.

If I were Bremen, I'd look at Pastore. He's only young and perhaps not quite ready for Europe, but he has huge talent, could be a replacement for Diego.

Yeah vickery did mention him in his blog last year, this is what he said:

Born in Bolivia to a Brazilian father, he represented Brazil at youth level before choosing Bolivia.

He's coming up to 21 and looks very promising indeed. Strong, two-footed, good in the air, he can receive back to goal and link the play.

His touch is not as good as Dimitar Berbatov's and he might find it hard to adapt to pace of the Premier League if he does move to England, but I think that he's a good long-term bet to succeed in Europe.

Nice try, Otto. But our interest in Marin is totally independent from a potential signing of vdV. With other words: if we would sign vdV, we would still want to sign Marin as well.

However, if I had to chose between Marin and vdV I would of course chose vdV, because vdV has so much more experience, you can´t compare him with a young talent like Marin, who has just a little Bundesliga experience.

I would like to see Bremen back in the CL next season. Therefore you need good and experienced players like vdV for example.

Good signing IMO, although some HSV fans might complain about his lack of experience and pedigree. His straightforwardness and over-ambitiousness were one of the main reason why he failed in Leverkusen; I don't think this will be much of a problem in Hamburg though, as their players appear to be less whiny and more willing to get out of their comfort-zone.

He's a left-back indeed.

I can't see him being just a squad player, but it is Bayern we're talking about....and I've seen a lot of players make bad choices the past couple of years, so I wouldn't want to put any money on it

Complete striker who has no real weaknesses who scores all types of goals from everywhere.

He can play as target man but also has the dribbling abilities to play as poacher. He scores and assists; is tall and pacy, two-footed, a good header of the ball and can score from close and long range. Can't really say anything negative about him; he looks like the real deal.

But before you get too excited; he recently said he intends to stay in Wolfsburg for another season if the club were offering him a heavy pay rise, which apparently they are willing to do. Regarding his love for Milan he said, that despite being a life-long admirer of the club he feels Seria A may not be the best environment for him and that he prefers England as his future destination.

Where do you see his strengths then? Is he more the attacking-minded sort of full-back that tends to neglect his defensive duties; or rather solid defensively but not outstanding in going forward?
