No way. It's 65m Euros. Zidane was somewhere between 70-75m Euros at the time.

Chelsea have made a late bid that's higher than Madrid's. Will the Ancelotti factor make him change his mind? Laughing

Mundo Deportivo now saying that the deal is done with Madrid despite Chelsea's interest. Fee has gone up to 75m euros. So it's officially a world record.

Isn't this the same Kaka who only 6 months ago declared to the world he wanted to play for Milan for the rest of his career? So much for being a special player in the mercenary based Footballing world, not that I expected anything different.

Kaka still wants to play for Milan but if Berlusconi and Galliani want to sell him what should he do?

They can't force him to go anywhere, he has a contract with the club for x number of years. Milan fans aren't going to be at all happy with the Chairman if Kaka rejects terms with any potential suitors stating he wants to play for Milan for the rest of his career and then Berlusconi and Galliani force him to play in the reserves.

He's rich enough as it is for him to be able to play at any club in the world of his choice, he earns more from sponsor arrangements than most top players earned 10 years ago and Milan are in the same European competitions as Real Madrid, along with the fact he's already won everything there is to win.

If he's truly loyal there's no reason for him to leave, there's no reason why he can't be as loyal as just about every other Football on the planet, but if he wants to be on a pedestal he was put upon he has no justification for leaving.

I think Milan's role is not to be underestimated in this...it's become more and more clear over the past few months that they need the cash.

But of course, like Dwarf says, it's eventually up to the player. Kaka and his father are earning millions in salary increases and signing on fees and commissions out of this deal.

There's loyalty, and then there's pulling your pants down for a club which has made clear that it doesn't want you. Would you have the same motivation to go to work if you found out your bosses kept trying to transfer you to other companies?

I don't see what Kaká is supposed to do in this scenario. Is he meant to let his contract run down as the Milan directors attempt to sell him year after year?

Nope, at the same time I wouldn't care about coming across as a mercenary providing I was happy.

If you fully appreciate what you are saying when you state you want to play for a club for the rest of your career your motivation to keep your club up when they are rooted to the bottom of the table at Christmas is greater than it would be playing for Barcelona in a CL final.

I fully agree it's absurd to think the majority of players would ever think like that and that's why I can't blame them for jumping ship. At the same time I don't expect those players to turn down one club stating they want to be at the club for the rest of there career then leave 6 months later.

    What irony?

Berlusconi is not a saint. He is an unscrupulous politician bloated on self-regard. When Dino Zoff's Italy lost to France in Euro2000, Berlusconi branded him an "amateur." I still remember thinking, does this callous opportunist really run my club. He is always willing to scorn other people's work, while he sits on his media empire, curbing freedom of speech in a first-world, G8 country. And what work has he done lately for Milan?

His political cronies are frank bigots, spewing xenophobic bile whenever the opportunity arises. He is a philanderer, who allegedly cavorts with minors, and he places buxom women in important political positions. He is a megalomaniac who has his grimy fingers in every affair. He has singlehandedly ruined Italian football by canceling collective TV rights negotiations. He has a singular ability to get elected and re-elected, yes; however, only because his opponents are weak-willed, floundering politicians.

Do you get an idea of what I am trying to say?

One of the reasons this is being delayed is supposedly that he doesn't want it to hurt him in some elections soon. Also Kaka will be back in Italy next week or something.

This doesn't matter, Kaka is a £30m player, and he is going for twice that, maybe more than twice. He's not in the upper echelons of ridiculously good players like this price would suggest, that's my point. But then i don't seem to rate him as much as some do. <Ale>

Perhaps you hold Zidane in too high regard?

Sure he was beautiful to watch, but was he that effective?

He was a big game player (similar to Kaka) so i don't see why they shouldn't be priced similarly.
