A player is only worth what somebody is willing to offer, and currently two clubs have offered £55m+ ergo, Kaka is a £55m+ footballer, whether you agree / like it or not.

Kimbo, he quite clearly is worth the £55m+ because two clubs have offered that amount.

So Owen was worth £17m and Denilson £23m? I see your point, Kaka may be worth that much to Real and Chelsea(2 clubs who have unlimited funds) but to me? No way, if i was them i wouldn't pay it, that's my point really.

£70M for a player is really excessive for a player, regardless of his quality. That's insane money...

You're talking about value for money, and that is opinion.
I agree there are better investment opportunities available for £55m+, such as land for example as a medium to long term investment.
However this is football, and then investment is looking to bring in instant reward, be it footballing.

No.
There is just tons more money in football now then there was 15-20 years ago.
Nothing to do with inflation.

Yes and they could do better for their money, for the money we're talking you could probably get Villa and Aguero, i rate the former higher than Kaka.
BUT i suppose Kaka is one of the more marketable players out there so that is probably a big factor.

Chelsea have made an astonishing £73.5million bid for AC Milan superstar Kaka, according to Sky Sports News sources.
The brilliant Brazilian, widely regarded as one of the finest players on the planet, was targeted by Manchester City in the winter transfer window but elected to remain with the Serie A giants.
Kaka went on record as recently as Tuesday to insist that he was happy with the Rossoneri and had no plans to move on this summer.
But further speculation emerged that Real Madrid were planning a swoop following Florentino Perez's appointment as president, with the returning supremo eager to make another 'Galactico' signing.
And Sky Sports News sources now understand that Chelsea have tabled a bid which trumps the reported offer of £56million from Santiago Bernabeu.
Former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was installed as the new Blues manager on Monday and he could now be set to link up again with the talented playmaker.
Chelsea's £73.5million bid is reported to be backed up by an offer of £10million-a-year in wages after tax for Kaka in a bid to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

This is exactly what I was about to point out. Remember that in Real Madrid players are asked to give 50% of their image rights to the club. When you consider shirt sales, tv deals, etc., the transfer money spent on such players is easily recouped.

Chelsea are apparently NOT in the running for Kaka
CHELSEA STATEMENT ON KAKA
Posted on: Wed 03 Jun 2009
Chelsea Football Club has issued the following statement in response to reports that we have made a world record transfer offer for Kaka.
'We have never made an offer to AC Milan for Kaka and therefore not one at this extraordinary level. As a consequence we have not discussed a salary with the player either. Any reports to the contrary are totally untrue.'

Clever from Berlusconi, now he'll say that it's what Kaka wanted.
I think it's pretty obvious he's a goner...spokeperson for the Brazilian team has said "Kaka will not be allowed to go to Madrid for his presentation"

Honestly, I don't know what to believe anymore.
On the one hand I think Berlusconi is odious. But on the other, I do think that Kaka' is not innocent in all of this. There are some reports that suggest he only said "I am staying at Milan" to get some "breathing room" (Sid Lowe).
Anyway, it will all be over in a week I guess. If Kaka' is the one who asks to leave, then I think, as in the case of Sheva, they will hold a press conference in which he will clearly say so.

Has been very impressive at club and international level. Obviously not at Kaka level because he is playing at club which aren't as good and have many issues which need resolving.
Seems you do have a vendetta against him though.

Well he needs to step up then doesn't he.
I have no vendetta against him - he is a fantastic player, very dynamic but he can't be put at the same level as Kaka etc until he proves it at a big club.
It drives me nuts when people say he's better than Eto'o.

Ronaldo rivals Henry and Lampard as the most inefficient footballer ever (these 3 average a goal every 875,643 shots approx)
Priskin is just a lot more talented than Bendtner and will prove so - neither of them are near their peak years unlike Kaka and Villa.

For Kaka's position at AM, probably only Gerrard & Iniesta right now.
For Villa's position as CF (Eto'o, Drogba, Torres, C.Ronaldo ) or SS (Messi, Rooney, Zlatan & Van Persie at a stretch, it's hard to choose between the two)
