A lot of Liverpool players being linked away with moves. Please don't ask such pointless questions next time mate. Maybe a domino effect could well be started with Masch

Look Torres is one of the worlds best strikers. Probably top 3. He's youngish and at the top of his game. However has he ever won a league or many trophies club wise? no nada almost zilcha.

Now if Liverpool lose players like Masch and possibly Alonso and they don't seem to have much of a chance of winning titles why would he be content for much longer...

Just being realistic guys....yes im sure you'll point to his latest comments, but then Ronaldo said he was staying for the last year and this was his home and then soon changed his mind.

You see Lrd. That wasn't so hard was it, even if it is a lot of nonsense. At least you made the effort ok

I'll put the chances of Torres leaving this summer at Zero %. I'll not even give you 0.0000000001 %. Zero covers it quite accurately.

Alonso I will go for 10% if Madrid want to give us £35-40m. It's up to them

Mascherano I will give 20% if Barca want to give us £30-35m

My odds are based on numerous things including comments from the players, comments from the club and the contracts they are currently on.

    FWIW:
    http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/gen/20090620/53727877830/noticia/el-entorno-de-mascherano-niega-que-haya-una-oferta-del-real-madrid.html

A Catalan radio station reported that there has been no bid for Mascherano from Real Madrid, something which was claimed yesterday. But of course Mundo Deportivo interpret that to mean he is coming to Barça, not that he's not moving. But the article does mention that Mascherano's representatives have remained in Spain after their talks with Barça a few days ago.

I might get shot down for this, but although Mascherano a great DM I wouldn't mind losing him if we got a lot of money. Despite scoring the most goals last season, we're quite defensive across midfield even if he isn't playing. Alonso doesn't get forward very often and he's often seen as a bit of a defensive midfielder...I think a few seasons ago he's made more tackles than anyone else in the league or something like that.

If we could replace him with someone who offers a bit more going forward, maybe losing him wouldn't be such a bad thing. Obviously the best case scenario is that he stays, but I don't think it would be devistating for the team if he went.

Mascherano is the one who lets Alonso and Gerrard shine. He could be replaced if you got a huge fee for him but your central midfield is the strongest part of the team, disrupting it now after having spent years putting it together is a bad move whoever you could get in.

Mascherano isn't irreplaceable, but there isn't a player I think would be an improvement, unlike most other positions of the team when we have sold a player it has been to replace him with someone better.

The club said he' not for sale, which seems pretty final to me.

My only real question is: how much of the £330m that Gillette just reaped will be made available to Rafa for transfers?

My guess is, all of it.

Nothing Is Impossible In Javier Mascherano's Future - Liverpool Coach Mauricio Pellegrino

Nothing is impossible in football, claims the coach...

Liverpool coach Mauricio Pellegrino has told the Spanish media it is not impossible for Javier Mascherano to leave the club this summer - as nothing in football is.

Mascherano has been linked to a move to Barcelona several times this summer after quotes from the player's agent suggested he would be open to the transfer.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was quick to dismiss the reports, stating the midfielder had "no price" and would not be leaving Anfield.

However, while Pellegrino states the Argentinean is of vital importance to last season's Premier league runners-up, he has suggested that money talks and could be a deal breaker regarding where Mascherano's future lies.

“Every time negotiations are underway, money always makes the decision,” Pellegrino told sport.es.

“Anyway, Mascherano is such an important player for us, like other ones can be for Barca.

“I do not want to say anything about it because we already know that in football’s world, nothing is impossible.”

    from a trust worthy source?

Would I be a fool if I took you seriously?

I googled it, and came up with this:

    Mascherano scoffs at Barca rumours
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has denied reports claiming he is set to join Barcelona - and insists he is 'only thinking of the Reds'

The Argentina international has become a vital part of manager Rafa Benitez's plans since joining the Anfield outfit on a five-year contract in 2007.
That form is reported to have caught the eye of Barca, but Mascherano is unaware of any interest from the Champions League winners.
The 24-year-old angered Benitez at the start of May after confessing he was unsure over his long-term future, but he now has no doubts.
"I still have three years on my contract with Liverpool and I am happy there," he told TyC Sports.
"I am comfortable and thinking only of Liverpool. I don't know anything about an approach from Barcelona or any other club."

I simply don't understand why Liverpool fans want Villa or any striker. Where will Gerrard play? Benitez has finally found the perfect position for him and then he is supposed to switch him on the wing? Because putting him in central midfield hasn't proven to work so far. The 4-2-3-1 seems to be the one to go with but then again I have only heard fans really want another striker and not Benitez.
