I think you're confusing something that actually happened with something that didn't happen.

Johnson wasn't going down before Gomes kidnapped him and took him for a ride around the penalty area. Rooney clearly was. You are such a hypocrite.

I'm an honest player, lies Rooney

Wayne Rooney says he is an "honest player" despite analysis of the crucial penalty he won against Arsenal last weekend revealing he dived.
The north Londoners were denied a penalty of their own, and were leading 1-0 when Rooney converted his spot-kick, and the hosts went on to win 2-1.
Rooney said: "Everyone who watches me play knows I am an honest player.
"I play the game as honestly as I can. If the referee gives a penalty there is nothing you can do."
Amid the furore that accompanied the two-match ban Eduardo has received for "deceiving the referee" during Arsenal's victory over Celtic, Rooney's conduct at Old Trafford was questioned at the weekend.
On initial inspection, it seemed clear Manuel Almunia had put his arms in front of the Manchester United striker before he went tumbling inside the area.
However, TV replays from a certain angle showed Rooney appeared to be heading for the turf before the Arsenal keeper made contact and that the spot-kick should not have been given.
Arsenal intend to appeal against Eduardo's punishment, with Arsene Wenger particularly aggrieved because he believes the Croatian was touched by Celtic's Artur Boruc.
Rooney, 23, said it was up to the authorities to take further action if they felt it was necessary.

"If they want to take punishment further it is down to UEFA and the people who run the game. As players you just want to play."
And the England star says diving, technically described as "simulation", is not a rising trend.
"Diving has been in the game for years. Probably the coverage the game gets now, with all the cameras around, it gets highlighted a bit more. But it hasn't got any worse."
He feels the referee is the best person to deal with such issues, even if there are instances when he might get it wrong.

    Thanks Ale

Bizarre article. Not sure who wrote that but i didn't hear anybody outside of forums say it wasnt a penalty, and going down or not it still was a penalty. Fact of the matter is Rooney HAS dived before and not much made of it...now he HASNT dived and a big deal is being made of it.

sKy pointed out that he started diving before there was any contact, they showed about 50 replays of the incident. MOTD then mentioned it briefly before concentrating on Wanger kicking a water bottle.

Infact I'm yet to see anyone, who isn't a Man Utd fan or an Arsenal hater like Saints, who thinks it wasn't a dive.

That's nonsense. All sky pundits said it was a clear penalty, a slow slow motion replay showed Rooney had the whereabouts to notice he was about to get taken out and prepared for it, but it was a clear penalty and very much not a dive. We could probably find a replay and claim Johnson dived in some form v Gomes or go back 10 years and make out other stuff happenend with slow slow motion replays but the reality is somewhat different unless you're a biase dtwat claiming fritel supports man utd

Scholes second looked suspect and a min later Rooney clearly onside and it's ruled offside...in a one on one and not one of those running at pace where the decision can be excused either. I thought the ref had a goodish game though. Crouch uses his arms a lot himself.

    lol!

I hope that is the reason.

Was almost a harsh 2nd yellow but probably the right decision. Fergle has no right to complain, Scholes has been getting away with allsorts while on a yellow, about time someone had the guts to do something about it.

Vidic should have been sent off 3 or 4 times in the 2nd half, but I've given up getting frustrated by his seemingly neverending supply of get out of jail free cards. Credit to Crouch for not losing his cool with the dirty Serb.

I'm not sure what is most upsetting, Manchester United's corruption, or their fans (who cannot be blamed for the corruption) who justify or turn a blind eye to it.

As far as something being done about it, it would take a major organisation, such as the bbc, to expose them, and they wont do that without solid proof, which wont be forthcoming. But for all we know they are investigating. I will be presenting copies of this dossier to senior officials within the FA and the Premier League.
