And it's quite obvious that since he's not being Lampard's slave anymore - Flumps form has gone downhill.

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
I think Chelsea have started employing Drogba somilar to how he was used for Marseille and his country... i.e. actually allowing him to face the goal, and run at players. He'll always give you great alround play, but he'll score more goals if you allow him to get clearer cut chances.
And it's quite obvious that since he's not being Lampard's slave anymore - Flumps form has gone downhill.

I seriously cannot see past the number of times the ball seems to just bounce of his shins though.
He is improving, I'll give you that, but the Drog World Class?? Personally not convinced. Yet.

depressing game for me... felt like we were the only team trying to play football... chelsea were just doing their normal long ball and hopefully sneak a goal from a set peice routine... 4 central midfielders made the game compact but we still managed to create some great opportunities in the first half... chelsea created nothing then bang out of nowhere that goal comes and was very undeserved...
no point even talking about the second half really... as a liverpool fan i have become very used to watching bucketloads of sitters being missed..very very annoying
P.S obi... kuyt bugged me today... thought he was poor... and you can add me to the list of people who thought gerrard had a good game (obviously apart from that bloody miss)

Garth Crooks: "There was a claim that Liverpool should've had a penalty. What did you make of it?"
Mourinho: "I did not see, to be fair. I have not seen the replay, so I cannot say. But, if we go to the first minute, and we analyse the Riley performance, ouff. He's a very good ref, but, it wasn't his day"
What rating would you have given Riley today? Imo, probably 5/10.

Don't agree to be honest. By half time, we'd had over 60% possession, and had created more chances, all on target. You hadn't had a shot on-target.
We only really went 'long ball' style in the 2nd half, after Ballack's red card (understandable, especially towards the end when we were hanging on)

i cant believe someone in this thread said earlier that its obvious theres 3 midfielders who are better than gerrard..i mean...ballack was terrible yet again then got sent off for stamping on someone...!!!!

That was me before the sending off. Ballack was playing very well.
He got sent off, Alonso turned to mush the second half.
Essien was class though, best midfielder on show by a stretch.

Come on Ballack wanted to get integrated very quickly in England. He saw Rooney stamping some one at the World Cup and every body was blaming C Ronaldo for mate screwing...
He thought it is a good thing in England to stamp some one because "then I get the media behind me..."

it's park shipshap.. what do you expect when liverpool are part of the topic...
drogba was the only chelsea playing that remotely impressed me in terms of actually wanting to play football and win the game on the chelsea team yesterday... they really were very poor both with 10 and 11 men... we only have ourselves to blame for missing all those sitters

point taken about alonso but he wasn't really bad yesterday and you also have to take into consideration the fact chelsea play 4 centre midfielders... alonso has been bad this season but we are losing because one again we are missing simple simple chances and previously because the defence have been making poor mistakes... im not overly worried at the minute... was very happy with the performance yesterday

Liverpool were not playing well and produced just a few REAL chances! You were toothless upfront with Kuyt and Bellamy up-front! If you played with Crouch you would have beaten Chelsea in this form!

So???? Chelsea played clearly on the counter-attack and allowed Liverpool to play more attacking... But most of the game was played just on the midfield!

It wasn't that bad at all.
That's just the typical simpleton response for a Liverpool-Chelsea game these days.
There were enough chances, plenty of incident and a wonder goal.
Not great by anymeans, but more exciting than your average premiership match is these days.

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
poss alonso best game of the season so far but still short of last seasons form and he is a hugely important cog for you. i think rafa made erros tactically yesterday, for somebody renowned for tinkering with tactics a lot he didn´t get the right balance to counteract that 4 CM prob., imho it was an ideal match to start aurelio, prob little coming from the right deep in defence as bloula isn´t going to get as far forward as cole, but he is better going forward than warnock. he played pennant to try and keep ashley quiet but finnan wouldn´t have got 2 on 1 too often if gerrard had played RM and tucked in a touch, and he should have played LG as he has a good knack of getting goals v chelsea and could have got in makelele face a bit more drifting in from the left. i never saw the point of bellamy yesterday, chelsea tend to sit quite deep his pace was unlikely to be a huge factor i´d have gone for crouch and kuyt myselfCOTR wrote:do you think we struggled yesterday frank????The-Frank-Tavern wrote:Alonso is the reason liverpool aren´t playing well his form is not good and he makes liverpool tick, without him they struggle hugely

I thought it was a decent game and Chelsea deserved the win.
Yesterday just confirmed for me that Chelsea are still the team to catch and that Cech is the best keeper in the league by a strecth.

I didn't think it was too bad. Some good chances, a great goal and the second half was quite exciting. It wasn't a classic but I've seen a lot worse games between the two teams in recent years.
