North Korea only had 2 keepers in their squad of 23, so FIFA have ruled that they must use one of their strikers only as a keeper.

This is stupid. Why does FIFA have to interfere in whether teams pick 1, 2, or 3 keepers? There's no minimum number of defenders you need to take. So why keepers WC2010 Group G - Brazil, Portugal, Ivory Coast, North Korea - Page 3 Icon_rolleyes

Because it's a unique position, all 3 getting injured is very unlikely but 2 getting injured is highly possible and thus imagine a defender in goal in a big game, it would be argued that it's not fair to play that team.

I agree. Every nation has to take 3 keepers coz its a rule. If they allow one nation to take 2 gks, they have an unfair advantage of more outfield options. If FIFA have a rule, they must enforce it so that the 3 keepers can only be played as keepers.

These North Koreans are tricksy lil buggers, aren't they? Serves them right!

    what?

I don't think North Korea have any sort of footballing advantage over anyone. They could field 11 outfield players and 2 goalkeepers for all I care.

It's silly that FIFA have gotten involved in this.

According to the French media, Drogba will miss the WC.

Bad news for the Ivory Coast and increases Portugal's chances of qualifying fromthis group massively. You need your special players in tournaments like this.

Maybe but I doubt they can beat Portugal, as poor as the Portugese seem to be they do have Ronaldo and some decent players like Nani, Carvalho, Simao.

Brazil will finish top with 7 points I think, North Korea might get a draw vs Ivory Coast but I reckon they'll lose their other two.

I guess we can give up on an African side winning this World Cup. Nigeria are incompetently run, and play Mikel for reasons that no one can explain, Ghana and the Ivory Coast have lost their best players, the Algerians are a dirty, cheating bunch who won't get through the group stage without half of their squad getting suspended, and South Africa are a bit of a joke.

L'Equipe now say that Drogba will have to rest for 10 days, but will still make it to South Africa. So the tournament apparently isn't over for him yet.

Brazil just beat Tanzania 5-1 in a friendly. The commentator repeated several times from 3-0 onwards, "the scoreline does flatter Brazil a bit".

I reckon we're going to hear that a lot in their games this time Laughing

But they're going to score some stunning counter attacking goals.
