Thankfully it's still just guesswork from them. I just skimmed through the article, so I may be wrong, but basically what they said was "Valdes will have his evaluation today, and what usually happens in cases like this is an operation, which means 6 weeks out". Marca are predicting one month. Both Barça papers are quiet.

Let's hope he's not out too long. We'll be utterly fucked with Pinto...he's a rubbish keeper.

Initial guesstimate from SPORT is 2 weeks. So he should be ok for Arsenal. Phew

The win shouldn't disguise the performance. It's clear there's a February curse. ie. the dip in physical level. It cost the players a lot to get the win. Good thing there's finally no midweek game now.

Iniesta was pretty sloppy. Abidal made a mistake for Athletic's goal, Busquets was ok at times, but at sixes and sevens sometimes (partly due to his position - was he a LB? was he a CB?). Messi improved in the 2nd half with some fantastic runs past 2/3 players at a time, but his shooting was like Zamora - always in row Z. Pedro was invisible.

Alves also out next week. Mallorca away is going to be a tough game.

It wasnt Abidal's fault. It was Busquets who wasnt aware of his position and didnt anticipated the movement from Abidal.
    That was my impression though.
And while we are there, Abidal was the our best player on the pitch along with Alves.

btw, after the midweek fuck-up, credit should go to Pep for a good substitution this time - Alves was getting lots of touches by sticking to the right, so bringing Maxwell on widened the pitch on the left as well.

We need him the middle, no matter what. For that kind of game we need him.
What a fuck we are going to do with Busquets, Masch and Keita in the middle when none of them can't pass as they should.
Only Iniesta is capable of that and he can't play without Xavi in the middle.
It's a game where we need him desperately.

Of course, and our game with Arsenal will be just another game for them in the League cup.
The game will be decided in the middle of the pitch and we need Xavi there. Simple as that.

In fairness, Pique is suspended, so it's just the four World Cup winners (home advantage, Messi, etc) that they can rely on. And they may be up against Nicklas Bendtner - it's barely even a contest.

Tito we won the CL with Igor Biscan as a mainstay in our midfield

I would like to think any manager would be able to cope with the loss of a key player, nevermind a manager with one of the greatest squads ever at his disposal.

Just let me have my doubts that we will have a solid midfield against Arsenal without him.
Even with him in the first game Arsenal had moments of brilliance in the midfield and we looked like lost in space.
So i seriously doubt that Iniesta on his own can orchestrate our midfield.
Anyway, he is out 7-10 days and he may come back even earlier, so...

Anyone else noticed this during the game yesterday? Pep needs Messi's permission before he can sub him lol!

Fits with what another friend told me when I asked "why does Messi play 90 mins of every game". His answer: "because the player wants to, and Pep is happy to do whatever Messi wants as long as Messi is happy on and off the pitch"
