Haha @ Alan Shearer.
''There's been 7 yellow cards, but there's not really been a bad challenge in the game''
Um Alan i think there has been a few.

Well, it's the best strategy against this Brazil side which lacks a bit of creativity. You need a bit more imagination to open up tight defences.
They'd play directly in your hands if they played a more open game. Your team was built to counter the crap out of teams, not dominate them.

Good game to watch so far. Brazil are dominating but as we've seen often, can't break down a defense that's sitting deep and compact.
Usually they create something from the flanks, but today Bastos is invisible in an attacking sense so that puts too much pressure on Maicon.
And with a converted fullback in Dani Alves effectively playing as your main central playmaker, you're not going to create many clear chances.
Brazil do usually play a high-ish defensive line, but Portugal are drawing them uncomfortably forward. They are playing like a spring...they sit deep and absorb the pressure, (ride their luck a bit), then burst forward suddenly, usually with a long ball. That's exactly how the yellow card for Juan was provoked, plus a few other dangerous situations, most of which were ruined by Ronaldo's selfishness.
Good proactive coaching by Dunga to take Melo off. And I'm enjoying watching all the Brazil players taking turns to assault Pepe. They must hate him

The teams look like they are more affraid to lose than to try to attack, especially us. I am kinda surprised about the physical game and i doubt it will end 11vs11.
Ronaldo could learn that thi is a team game and not an individual show. It is like he is returning to his old self of i-am-the-attack.
Great game from Coentrão.

Pepe thought he could handle himself about an hour ago - I think he's been put in his place

Pierre, watched the replay a few times & I agree with the Dutch pundits & match commentator. No way Lucio would have been ablt to prevent Ronalda from going 1 v 1 the goalie. so straight red.

How was that not a red? The ref is a card happy twat. Tiago deserved his one, but Fabio Coentrão was just silly.

At the end of the half Duda was in acres of space, instead his shot.

Why do players always fucking do that? Can they not tap it into an open goal with their left foot?

Portugal doing well. I mean they've got in good positions. Brazil maybe have been worked out a bit. Just don't let them play through you hit them on fast counter attacks and they dont have much of an answer.

If you have forwards with pace and midfielders with vision who can play well timed through balls, beating Brazil at their own game is definitely possible. Nobody is invincible.

I despair at the one-footedness of players sometimes. Your job is to kick a ball, you have two feet to do this with, shouldn't you take some time to make sure you can at least function with your weaker foot

Who's going to do that though? Spain, Netherlands, Argentina all like to play with the ball. England maybe but your team is not tactically good enough yet to pull off a tactic of sitting deep then counter attacking at pace.
Maybe Uruguay in the semis?
