Looking forward to this tie very much

Spain will want revenge for Portugal dumping them out of Euro2004 I expect.

And I think they will do it.

Well, apparently he's going to play Javi Martinez instead so..
    Doh

Bad news for Portugal too - Deco is expected to be in starting line-up, after his minor hip injury.

    Doh Doh Doh

That could be a match-losing decision from Queiroz. He'll potentially ruin Portugal's tactic of sitting deep then countering at speed, because he's just not fit enough for the modern game anymore.

He'll try to win the midfield, that's what i think. This could well be the first game of the wc to end on penalties.

    Spain try hard ?

    Unlikely

They are yet to break sweat in this WC and are yet to even receive a yellow card.

It's a tough game to call. Much will depend who he replaces Alonso with.

Whatever happens, as a neutral I hope both sides show what they can do with the ball. Plenty of talent on both teams, would be a shame if it is marred by play acting and diving, which both sides are capable of too.

I'm going to stick my neck out and make a prediction:

    Spain 3 Portugal 1

Sounds very good prediction. It all depends of who scores 1st

Portugal went out of the group, so nothing to loose now. They are not favorites for anything, and the underdog tag always suited us nicely.

That and Spain has not beaten Portugal on a competitive match in 30 years may prove to be a burden to Nuestros Hermanos

We play and defend like a team we could just win this.

We will get chances on the counter attack if Superman plays like he did against the Koreans(looked for a better placed team mate instead of shooting)we could score a few but what's the chances of that happening.

Superman is going to be coming up against Spain so expect alot of tricks in the wrong areas and alot of shooting but I hope its the Superman who puts the team before his own personal glory.

I'll stick to my 0-0 FT prediction, with lot's of fight on the midfield and quite a few cards......

Not what i wish but i do not believe CQ will play to win. He plays not to loose but i hope i'm wrong.

Portugal have a very real chance if they play like they did against North Korea.

That statement might sound obvious, and also forgetting that Spain are a very different side to South Korea, but having watched Chile give Spain a fright the other night, if Portugal run at Spain like they did against the Koreans (who I'm still convinced aren't a bad side - Portugal just made them look bad), playing at that level of tempo and accuracy in the passing, you have every chance. Spain love to slow the game down and play it at their own pace from what I've seen of them. They looked vulnerable by Chile's speed and accuracy on the ball.

Incidentally, how big is this game in Portugal/Spain?

Do you view each other as respected rivals given the obvious close ties between the countries, or is there more needle / dislike thrown in there too?

Hoje tinhamos Robinho, Fabiano e Kaka.

Tô dizendo, voces tem time pra ganhar.

World Cup 2010: Fernando Torres turning into the Spanish Emile Heskey

The Spain forward is happy to create space and chances for his country's main striker rather than lead the attack

Noah and the Bale wrote:Whatever happens, as a neutral I hope both sides show what they can do with the ball. Plenty of talent on both teams, would be a shame if it is marred by play acting and diving, which both sides are capable of too.

I'm going to stick my neck out and make a prediction:

    Spain 3 Portugal 1

P.S - Gostou do jogo do Ramirez? O menino e bom de bola. Melhor contratacao do Benfica nos ultimos anos.

lol!
