Jaime even you have to admit that in the attack our bench was really weak. Bojan, Jeffren and to a lesser degree Afellay is a massive drop in quality compared to the first choice. It is necessary to sign somebody in order to add a little more weight to the attack.

The bench is pretty irrelevant when Messi, Villa, and Pedro basically play all of the games. Bojan and Jeffren are good enough for Copa del Rey and the 5th and 6th matches in the group stage of the CL after you have already qualified and at home to Almeria in the league (if Pep did want to rotate that is).

I loathe large squads I don't think anything good comes from it. You lot have already proved that you don't need more than 18 to be competitive in multiple competitions so long as the quality of the players is very good.

    1) But that's the whole issue, they shouldn't be playing all the games, but pep right or wrongly doesn't trust the back ups he has at his disposal, now he will let go of two players in the forward line and bring in one.

Large Squad, who has a large squad?

Their will likely be 3 players leaving and two coming in

Likely players to leave: Milito,Jeff Bojan, Maxwell(maybe)
    In: Sanchez,thiago,fontas,Cesc(maybe)

The size of the team will actually be the same as last season

    current squad.
    Gk:VV,Pinto
    RB:Alves,Adriao
    CB: Puyol,Pique,Milito,fontas
    RL:Abidal,Maxwell
    DM:Masch,Busquets
    CM: Xavi,Kieta
    AM: Iniesta,Thiago
    RF:Pedro,Afellay
    CF:Messi
    LF:Villa,Sanchez

its has you said he doesn't need much players to compete once he has a quality squad and thats what he does now, quality though out and once pep trust a player, he gives them playing time.

Kieta, busquets, pedro proves this, which is way they got more playing time than the likes of Bojan and Yaya before he left.

Now every one will be playing a fair amount of games and winning, one big happy winning family Very Happy

38m + 4 in variables is the cesc deal on the table, arsenal wants the deal done by the end of the month, but are holding out because barca wants to pay the money in installments.

a pity the better youth players are either away with spain or injured, the pre-season is a good place for those who haven't seen them to have a look

    Just watched the first half.

Thiago (wearing #4 FYI) has been a class above. Villa has looked lively hitting the post a couple of times. Afellay & Loboto(sp?) have been decent too.

Carmona has looked very poor. I've never heard of him before but he seems quite immobile and awkward. Very un=Barcelona like. Fontas has looked quite poor too. I still think Gomez + Bartra are much bigger talents.

yeah been watching it myself, we have been a bit shit overall, but thiago is a class above, the number 4 hopefully means no cesc.

carmona is a player we both to play for the b team, so he really isn't barca standard.

Fontas is the least talento of all the defenders we have, but the most mature and pep is every big on that.

    pep on thiago

"Thiago has endless personality. He is a very daring boy with a lot of talent, but he has a lot of [first-team] competition.

"He has a very big future and we will try to give him the minutes for his potential to explode. Now he is worth a lot of money."

He looked excellent. Has all the tricks and flicks, but is also very fast. However what was most noteworthy was his willingness to play the simple ball. And he played in some lovely crosses and got a couple of assists.

    Sarabia looked very good too.

Despite Morata getting a hatrick I wasn't overly impressed.

yep sarabia and gerard are their two best players by far, morata should have had six with better finishing, paco would have put some of those chances away, morata seems more of a old fashion 9. in the box tapping them in.

Romeu's sale to chelsea will include a 8 million euros buyback clause, i see us selling masch in two seasons and bring him back. because the kid is pure class. got a knee injury that slowed his progress last season. but in his position he has everything
