England dominated the first 20 minutes but the Turks are dangerous on the break and had the better worked chances. Both goals were pretty flukey though and as a team they look better drilled than England. Hope isn't getting any service or support now.

Barcelona is the model to follow these days. We're starting with the diving, will work up to the face-clutching and feigning injury and then perhaps, if we have time, the technique/passing/pressing.

    Germany - England 2-0 HT

Bad start, despite the early lead, but later got in control of the match. Still a bit disappointing half, as the Germans didn't do more than necessary. May be enough for England, but won't be in the semis.

Whilst it's never pleasant being beaten by Germany, at this level the performance is more important than the scoreline. So far pretty decent. Germany more clinical.

Given their youth structure is some years ahead of ours, as long as it remains competitive will be happy

but our attacking potential is really great, in the last games they really produced good goals

Our game still lacks structure and cohesion. Of course you can't expect the same percentage of precise passing on this level, but still, compared to earlier U17 sides, this team seems to rely more on individual skill, which isn't good to see. So far, the very solid defence has been as much of the reason for the good results as the attack.

I have my doubts. Sure, they could and should be able to go all the way. But I can see them getting into serious trouble against better organised teams. The French and Brazil in particular could cause them all kinds of problems. This match has been a step back so far actually, compared to the last. Against the USA, you had a feeling that the team had finally clicked, it looked a lot more like a team than it does today. Maybe the second half will be better though.
