Weiser makes it 3-0 after missing an excellent chance right before that.

Sami Khedira's younger brother, Rani Khedira, replacing Aycicek.

Haven't seen him play yet, should be interesting.

Yeah just over the line. Play been getting a bit sloppy though. I am simultaneously fascinated and repelled by his hair. The Ducksch guy who came on isn't much better, if this is the topiary effort the Aryan dudes are going to come up with then bring on the immigrants says I.

    Aycicek off Khedira on.

Hah....Khedira gets booked for diving in the box, while it actually was a stonewall penalty. We get awarded a soft one, yet get punished for the real one. Mad world.

Röcker looks like a really promising talent on the fullback position. Good news for Werder and Germany, as we're lacking there (especially Werder)...

    3-0 FT

Ref ruined what could have been a much tougher test for the kids. They basically beat them without much of an effort, wasting way too many chances while they were at it, the most negative aspect compared to the first match. On the positive side, the defence looked quite mature and 'settled' now, at least most of the time, but that's probably down to Burkina Faso being a bit toothless, too.

They should have qualified for the second round now and can field the second string in the last group match.

It seems like Germany -17 is similar as the French -17. There were jokes in France that this team didn't have any withies at all and that the starting XI was etiher arabic or black. But that's the way our society looks like nowadays anyway.

Back to topic, I learn about a young promising guy in the French team: Benzia, who also plays for Lyon and scored 37 goals this season with the Lyon youth team.. Funny the similarities with Benzema

True, but this German U17 side is still exceptional in that sense. Look at the current U19 side, for example, the next important age group:

    Stefan Ortega, Marc-André ter Stegen
Kevin Kraus, Shkodran Mustafi, Marvin Plattenhardt, Antonio Rüdiger, Stephen Sama, Matthias Zimmermann
Tolga Cigerci, Julian Korb, Moritz Leitner, Markus Mendler, Nico Schulz, Julian Wiessmeier, Reinhold Yabo
Eric Durm, Shawn Parker, Kevin Volland

Considerably less migrants and only one with a Turkish background actually (Tolga Cigerci).

But yes, the share of migrant kids will only grow in the coming years, simply because the 'natives' hardly have children anymore, while the problem is less drastic amongst migrants. And then there is the other social factor to consider - football still is a working / lower class sport, and the social status of migrants is lower in general, for various reasons.

Me, too. The early goal didn't help, as the team tried to conserve energy after that. It was a rather half arsed performance in general, despite the many chances created (and wasted). Ironically, long balls hardly save any energy, for the forwards at least.

Now even Asia joined the 'let's beat the crap out of South America on their own backyard" brigade. Japan leading 2-0 against Argentina after just 20 minutes.

In the other group match, Jamaica are leading 1-0 against France. Ya man.

Everything that is wrong with Argentinian or even South American football in general is obvious in this match. Players are all skillful and very comfortable on the ball, but hold on to it way too long, slowing the game down so much that it is a piece of cake to defend against. No structure, few purposeful combinations, way too slow switching between attacking and defending, on and of the ball. It's like watching 11 street footballers with no tactical awareness whatsoever, trying to do a Maradona every time they get the ball. Archaic.

Japan made it 3-0 in the second half. France equalised in the other match.

Argentina should be knocked out if it stays like this. The best third placed teams advance to the second round. While three points are a must, and Argentina do have three points, their goal difference is just too bad after the spankings handed to them by France and now Japan.

Now an Argentinian player scored the goal of the tournament, 50 yard strike surprising the goalkeeper. 3-1. Likely too late though, a few minutes left.

Mexico score in the last minute of extra time and win the match 3-2! lol!

Feyenoord are out! The reigning European champion humiliated by Congo, North Korea and Mexico. A single point from that group, finished last! Even Kim Jong-Il's mini robots collected more points...

What an embarrassment to Europe, what an embarrassment....to us. Embarassed

I'm not embarassed... it's simple: the team that won in Europe was not the team that performed in Mexico... not literally, obviously, but in terms of quality they were clearly two different teams. While I did not watch these games, their performance against Germany was riveting in its offensive efficiency and pace. So, seeing as they failed to win ANY of their games against very low-tier teams (well, Mexico is probably pretty decent), I am quite sure that the Orange team of last month is still in Europe.

I'm actually somewhat pleased by the result... Holland had to be one of our main opponents in this competition, and, with them out of the way, this tourney may have become that much easier.
