It is all a bit silly though, and this from someone who has about as much affinity with english culture as a brussels sprout.
I remember two years ago Kolarov was linked with Real Madrid before eventually going to city. This was treated as a reasonable transfer target, despite the fact, that outside having a powerful but inaccurate left foot, he's extremely rubbish.

Honestly this is a non issue because this is just paper talk during an international weekend. Also with Kolarov people hadn't really seen him and only heard about him for obvious reasons, nobody watches Serie A and certainly not Lazio. In contrast many watch English games. When Kolarov came up Real Madrid fans were asking Serie A fans about him because they didn't know. With Walker however we have seen him even if it isn't as much as Tottenham fans.Hlebagone wrote:Deluded F*ck wrote:Hlebagone wrote:SHOCK.

The former Inter trainer was also questioned on Nuri Sahin after the midfielder played for Turkey midweek in their 2-1 friendly defeat to Slovakia, despite struggling for game time at the Bernabeu.
"Madrid are better than Turkey. Without being offensive, it is easier to play for a national team than a club [like Madrid]. I still think Nuri Sahin, with a proper pre-season, could do much more. The team cannot be joking at the moment," he explained.
Well! Its probably safe to say Sahin won't be a regular until next season. I personally don't buy this "proper pre-season" excuse, Sahin is hardly a liability to bring on when winning at home, for example against Racing when the team was winning 4-0.

Jose:
“Granero está jugando por su carácter y su especial personalidad. Es un chico de los que pienso que el Real Madrid no puede perder nunca y debe jugar aquí hasta que termine su carrera. Simboliza lo que es el Real Madrid y nunca me deja mal. Siempre que juega, un minuto o todos, nunca me defrauda. Si hay un jugador del que me puedo culpar que hubiera merecido jugar más de lo que lo ha hecho en el primer tramo de la temporada es precisamente él”.

Nice win yesterday, especially considering the international fixtures midweek. Not a great first half to be fair but both goals involved some nice one touch passing. I feared that Higuain was going to be shut out again after the first half, seemed like he missed a hatful of chances but I was glad to see him find his scoring touch in the second half. It will be good for his confidence and I think if we are going to make a run in the CL we will need some goals from el Pipita eventually. Great game from Kaka. Feels like I have been waiting 3 years to see him play like this. Still not convinced he is "back" but whatever I will take a good performance from him any time he can muster one up.
Bizarre performance from Carvalho. He is really sh!t this year. I can't imagine he will be renewed next year (evidently it's not a done deal even though Mourinho said it was) especially not if Jose decides to move on. Good performance from Varane in the second half. He is a very tidy defender. Though I think the think I liked the best was the 40 yard pass over the top right into the stride of Ronaldo. Reminded me of Hierro that.
Nice to see Morata given a cameo as well. Jose <3's canteranos.
9 wins from the title...

Well, I've got nothing better to do at the moment so I was thinking a bit about next season. I have no idea what will happen with Jose. Although his comments lead me to think he will go. The press were asking him about his trip to London and asked him point blank "Will you be here next year" and his response was "I don't talk about my future". If he is planning to stay, he should just come out and say so and stop playing games. That he refuses to confirm his continuation to me means he is most likely leaving.
We've talked about potential replacements already so I won't get into it. But as far as the squad is concerned it seems like there could be a lot of turnover.
After all of the players on loan return, we will have 28 first team players on the books:
Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Antonio Adán
Defenders: Raúl Albiol, Álvaro Arbeloa, Ricardo Carvalho, Fábio Coentrão, Marcelo, David Mateos, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Raphaël Varane
Midfielders: Xabi Alonso, Hamit Altıntop, Sergio Canales, Lassana Diarra, Royston Drenthe, Fernando Gago, Esteban Granero, Kaká, Sami Khedira, Pedro León, Mesut Özil, Nuri Şahin
Forwards: Karim Benzema, José María Callejón, Ángel Di María, Gonzalo Higuaín, Ronaldo
I don't imagine any of the discards from last season, apart from maybe Canales depending on who the potential new manager might be, will have any real chance of staying. Carvalho and Drenthe are out of contract this summer and at this moment it is highly unlike either will be renewed. In addition, I think Albiol, Altintop, and Kaká will move on. Maybe Şahin as well although if Mourinho departs maybe he will get a second chance.
Unless Higuaín is sold I don't think we have any need to sign any forwards. I think the five we have are more than sufficient and we have Morata, Joselu, and Jesé from Castilla if we are in a pinch.
In midfield, well, I think (hope) Lass may finally move. Or at least I hope. He bitches every summer about wanting to be more important. His contact is up in 2013. Last chance to get anything for him. I can go either way with Khedira. He has his uses even if I don't think he should be a regular in the XI. If a good offer comes then he can go, I'm not too bothered. At Christmas I thought for sure Granero would be sold. Of course I am partial to Granero and he is very loyal. If he gets minutes until the end of the season, maybe he will. He is a useful squad player I think. His wages are not too high. It would be good if he stayed. Kaká should leave in theory but I suppose being one of Florentino's galaticos you never know. Özil and Alonso are probably the only two guaranteed to be back.
In defence, obviously we are covered at left back. Mostly covered in the centre with Sergio Ramos there. Pepe is being linked with PSG but unless they came with a mad offer my guess is he stays. If could just stop behaving like a c*nt I am ok with that. But that leaves us really with only 3 centre backs. And really only one right back.
For goalkeeper, Iker could still be there for another decade. I have seen maybe Adán will ask to leave in the summer to go to a club where he can play. If he needs to so be it, the same happened with loads of our understudies (Diego Lopez, Jordi Codina, Kiko Casilla, David Cobeño, etc.) Of course I see no point to signing a big name backup. Jerzy Dudek was the most pointless player in the history of the club. Between Tomás Mejías and Jesús Fernández or even Fernando Pacheco who has been called up to the Spain U21s a couple of times I think there is a serviceable backup.
I would think the base of the squad next year will be:
GK: Iker Casillas, Antonio Adán
RB: Álvaro Arbeloa, ?????
LB: Fábio Coentrão, Marcelo
CB: Sergio Ramos, Raphaël Varane
CB: Pepe, ?????
CM: Xabi Alonso, Nuri Şahin
CM: Sami Khedira, ?????
AM: Mesut Özil, Esteban Granero
RF: Ángel Di María, José María Callejón
LF: Ronaldo, José María Callejón
CF: Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuaín
The great thing if we signed Javi Martínez is that he could cover both centre midfield and centre back. Can't really think of a right back that inspires. I hope to god the Maicon bandwagon has passed. We were linked to some brasilian kid Mario Fernandes in January who can apparently play right back and centre back. No idea if he is any good. Oooooh! And Kyle Walker!
Ok that's all I have.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset tomorrow, after all yous are playing a team from the mighty RPL.But seriously CSKA have more of a chance than some people are giving them.

I'm sure you wouldn't you wannabe cule!
Jose says he is playing with three forwards. So I'm guessing:
-------------------Casillas
Arbeloa-----S. Ramos-----Pepe-----Marcelo
------------Alonso-----Khedira
-----------------Ozil
Ronaldo---------Higuain-----------Benzema
Which I guess will leave Kaka as the plan B.

Hmmmmm....well, we all know that Balague is full of sh!t sometime but he is the first to come out and make a definitive statement over what is going on with Sahin.
NURI SAHIN FOR THE EXIT?
Hi Guillem, Do you think Nuri Sahin has a future at Real Madrid if Jose Mourinho stays at the club beyond the summer? The Germany international has recovered from a number of injuries to get himself fit but has failed to get any regular playing time. Do you think he simply needs to get a good pre-season under his belt in order for him to show the form which led to Real Madrid buying him in the first place? Thanks, Shane Farrington (Man United fan)
GUILLEM SAYS: Real Madrid were looking to loan Sahin to another team in the winter transfer window because they realised that he doesn`t have the pace to play the way Real Madrid want to play, which is why Esteban Granero is ahead of him in the midfield pecking order. Mourinho feels that Sahin is not up to scratch at the top level and that he lacks dynamism and strength. He will decide what to do with Sahin in the summer but it looks like the player may return to Germany.

Without being on another planet it was a very comfortable win last night. I was expecting CSKA to score as I mentioned in the matchday thread. I was honestly thinking 2-1 and we'd have to sweat it to the end but Higuain, Ronaldo, and Benzema is a lot of fire power. Nice game from Kaka, I thought he was actually one of the best players in the first half. The worst thing is even when he plays well it still forces Ozil on to the wing where he is pretty much wasted imo. So happy to see Higuain score finally in the knockout rounds of the CL. Another critique silenced. I've said it before but I think if we are going to win the CL this year we will need both Karim and el Pipita along the way. Terrible to lose Alonso to suspension for the next match. If we play Barcelona we will be well and truly f*cked and we may be regardless of who the opposition is. We so desperately need another player that can do his job for us.

Ha yes well obviously the people who make the decisions (i.e. Jose) don't believe Nuri is an option. I can't say for certain because I probably saw him play a total of 2 times for Dortmund but it seems like while he gives the range of passing that is similar to Alonso, he doesn't really have the tactical discipline/defensive workrate that Alonso gives. In my own mind I imagined them more as compliments than substitutes.

Well we're bound to lose Alonso at some point so I'm happy it is now for the first leg of QF. Granero should be able to do a decent job but if Granero was out we would be truly fucked since Mourinho's ban on Sahin will continue.Jaime wrote:Without being on another planet it was a very comfortable win last night.
