Underrated players.

What kind of 'possession' game? Don't just say numerically. We will have more meaningful possession.

Have they had a 21 pass move with Nasri finish vs England? 40 pass move with Cabaye hitting the post vs Ukraine? Nein. Non. Nada. No.

What do you mean don't just say numerically? That is the universally accepted way to judge possession.

You said you would have as much possession as us,if you think you would create more chances and have less possession then that is basically what Croatia did today.Yes I know France would play a more open game than Croatia but still we dominate possession against any team,even when we are the worst team we still dominate possession.

France should get 1st place and avoid us anyway.

Come on. Modric is one man versus Xavi Iniesta Busquets Silva. How can he be expected to dominate play or possession as you put it? Cabaye on his own would get nowhere near to it either. You cannot compare the suppirting cast in the Croatia midfield with Frances players.

Modric did what he had to and did it well.

Croatia didn't create a lot. They created few chances.

I'd say we would get more than 40-45% possession. And quite frankly don't care for Spain's possession between the DM's and multiple CM's. It comes down to nothing, most of the time. It's more a defensive tactic. Ours is more organic, offensive tactic.

Modric did produce one good pass, and also let's not forget he had an ordinary game against Italy, Pirlo was the one running the game. If he had created one good movement, then that performance would be overrated as well.

Ok. Cabaye is great. Utterly wonderful he was against England and the talents of Scotty Parker and Jordan Henderson.

Modric is overrated given Croatias midfield is the envy of the World and should have done much much better.

Poor support cast didn't let down Cabaye from outshining Modric all season in PL. And most in a 2 man midfield. At least Modric had few breathers in different combinations with Sandro, Townsend, Parker.

Conversely, Modric was many people's pick of midfielder of the year the season before. He had a less obviously impressive season.

So like how Spurs finishing 4th is deemed a disappointment and Newcastle finishing 5th a major success, its the perception based on expectation that defines this comparison.

Modric still had a season as good as Cabaye. No outshining was happening I can assure you

But you are forgetting Cabaye is French.

Even if we could say they were on par. Cabaye in his first full PL season in England, already has better end product and has shown different qualities to his game. Immediately able to adapt AND show all his nuances of midfield play that he showed at Lille.

Lets see how Cabaye gets on now expectations are higher before we start banging on about him being levels above Modric

By the way, I agree that Cabaye has settled quicker than Modric did in his first PL season.

But then so did Grant Holt in comparison with Didier Drogba.

Not sure one season is enough time to fully claim one is now better than the other, even if Cabaye is clearly more talented than Holt
