Better to fall for the Spanish U21 hype and give Morata a try who will cost nothing rather than for the foreign hype who might cost something like 15m and give us someone like Drenthe.

Marca now confirming the Isco deal as well so it looks like this is happening. Marca reporting that the fee is 24m plus 3m in incentives.

But we can all agree that nor we no longer have to think of if a player was born the right place or not. I still have my doubts as to whether or not this transfer makes all that much sense. Regardless of Isco's talent I don't know that he is better in the areas where Ozil is weak. And for the amount of money we/he will/should expect playing time. I'm wondering where this leaves Di Maria as well. Given that we have bought Isco it makes sense to sell Di Maria even if it would leave us without a single left footed winger.

I don't think anyone will deny the importance of foreign players to Real Madrid. The problem is when you bring a shit foreign player instead of going for a talented Spanish player. It makes no sense and yet this has been the policy for the last decade or more.

I still have my doubts as to whether or not this transfer makes all that much sense. Regardless of Isco's talent I don't know that he is better in the areas where Ozil is weak. I think Di Maria has been likely to move ever since it was clear that Jose was moving. All of the Jorge Mendes boys are clearing out. I like Di Maria but he has taken a step backwards this past year, probably for a variety of reasons, but if PSG or City want to pay 30m for him it's probably the only chance we have to recoup the money that we (over) paid for him in the first place.

If there is one difference between Ozil and Isco it's that Isco plays with balls. Look at the way he played against Dortmund in the CL semifinals. Was clearly the best player for Malaga, came up with a big goal and an assist across the two legs. Ozil has never come up big in the CL for us.

Not denying the Ozil part but is still unproven. He hardly set the world alight against Dortmund even if he did provide an assist which wasn't really special. You were thinking of his performance against Porto. However the big point is that Isco is not really the creative alternative to Ozil that Borja Valero would have been. Isco is a different option and if he plays alongside Ozil then they might work well together since our German friends have been sputtering that Ozil's faillings is due to poor technical team mates and playing style. We will test that this season. But individually I don't know that we have solved our problem but perhaps it won't matter.

I shall change my name to Isco Benny if you sign him. Would mean your president may shut up.about Bale, also stops Man City signing him.

Modric, Isco, Ozil. Creativity in abundance, just need a manager to get them to be the new Xavi, Iniesta, Messi triumvirate....

    lol!
You don't know Perez that well then. The only way I could see Perez not continuing going after Bale is if Isco plays on the right and does a great job so there is no obvious place for Bale to play. Besides that or Ozil leaving he will go after Bale again. Also the media has talked about the club wanting a trio this summer of Isco,Bale, Cavani. I have never thought this was serious because we can't afford it and there isn't room for both Isco+Bale imo but if they are right then pursuit will go on all summer.

    Enjoy:bubbly:

I'm sure Sport, El Mundo Deportivo, Marca and Diario As are written by 10 year olds. The way they cover the same story is actually hilarious. Whilst Marca and AS would have us believe Isco is already a R Madrid player, Sport and El Mundo Deportivo's response is to dig out some comments apparently made by Isco 4 years ago saying he has never like Madrid, he's a bit antimadridista and Madrid is an arrogant club etc. For good measure they add he loves Iniesta and names his Dog Messi. Laughing
