Well, how dare they have competition for his place? Don't they know it is Benzema and any other ten. How do they expect the great one to perform when he is expected to deliver within 20 hours of football surrounded by so-called fans who know nothing of his genius and other players who think they are worthy of breathing air he has exhaled?
    lol!  what? scratch
It was Jaime's day off, so I answered (sarcastically) on his behalf. He'll be needing more days off when the Curse hits him. Evil or Very Mad

I thought that was on some English internet site (though I am not 100% certain). Wouldn't real's fans go to a spanish shop or internet site to buy the shirt?

Haha I don't know, I didn't actually read the story. Just saw the headline on AS and thought it would rile everybody up. Biggrin

Your theory is entirely plausible if that's the case (that it was from an English site).

Although ABC which originally came out with the "accusations" have said that they had multiple sources of information for that story, none of which were Florentino. Of course they alluded to the Florentino being the source but they have even removed the article from the website so I think ABC is the one, in any, that is in trouble for inventing a story.

Blut has confirmed that the father is in fact a greedy money grabber so I am less inclined to believe him.

But has the great one confirmed it. Until Benzema declares him to be a greedy git, he must be presumed innocent. Wink

PS Benzema refuses to score for you out of consideration for your finances. He doesn't want you to have to pay his former team for all those awards. What a guy!

Özil's father is a bellend, but so is Perez. One of them tries hard not to fuck up the career of his exceptionally gifted son (not that he is different than the average agent, mind), while the other is in charge of the biggest and richest football club in the world.

As he sat confidently alongside Arsène Wenger and enthused about his bright new ambitions in London, a smear of Madrid mud was slung his way. The story was based on hearsay that was attributed to Florentino Pérez, the Real Madrid president, which cast aspersions on Ozil's levels of professionalism.

The German playmaker replied to an awkward question as if feinting past a clumsy opponent – swift and steered with perfect balance. "People who know me know how professional I am," he said calmly. "The past years, you can see how many games I played – 159 games. If you're not professional in your life then I don't think you can play that many games. All the rumours, I don't care about them. I have a new task here. I'm just looking ahead. I am in London now. We have big goals here and we will work very hard to reach these goals."

Which is why I have a soft spot for Di Maria. He has the attitude of a winner. However he will have to adapt to playing in center at times as well unless Ancelotti persists with a 4-4-2 which I wouldn't mind since that would allow us Di Maria/Isco+Bale on the wings and give safety to our full backs. The question is if he will do so at the expense of protecting the central midfield because Ronaldo won't do the work needed.

At best we can hope for in the defensive phase

    Bale----Modric----Alonso/Khedira---Isco

    ----------Benzema-----------

    --------------------Ronaldo

which wouldn't be bad or unbalanced and allow Ronaldo even more freedom and actually solve the defensive problems we have had since Ronaldo moved up striker(Pellegrini) to winger(Mourinho). If Benzema can be content and serve as a more functional player then he will become quite useful even if his form doesn't pick up.

It's based on longevity. So the order is Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo (bizarre to think he's made more appearances for Real Madrid than players like Redondo, Zidane, and Figo), Pepe, Ronaldo, Alonso. After that it's probably either Arbeloa or Benzema since they both arrived that year as well.

I am suprised Xabi Alonso is so low on the list. I get the longevity point, but thought it's between him and Ramos actually for vice-captaincy.

Marcelo and Coentrao both out tomorrow so Nacho starts at left back.

    Likely XI:

    ---------------------D. Lopez

    Carvajal------S. Ramos------Pepe------Nacho

    --------------Illarra-------Modric

    Di Maria-------------Isco-------------Ronaldo

    -----------------Benzema

Bale is traveling but probably won't start. Ancelotti confirmed that Illarra will start. Isco is traveling as well despite picking up an injury with the Spanish national team. He'll have a late fitness test but it looks like he will be ok to play from the start.
