Khedira has gone off injured on duty with Germany. Tries to tackle Pirlo, misses completely, clatters into the Italian and is done...

    It's a miracle. Shocked

No, of course I don't wish anyone ill but with Alonso back hopefully we'll see an improvement in midfield.

Although not a big fan of Khedira Ancelotti seemed to have liked the combination of Khedira plus one/two of Modric, Alonso, Illarramendi and I want stability in the team. The only good thing is that Casemiro will likely be given more of a chance now as our only other muscle in midfield although I would prefered him to be eased in rather being thrown into it like this. I'm not too comfortable if Ancelotti will only rely on Modric/Alonso/Illarramendi in away/big games.

Read that Ancelotti will give Nacho, Jese, Morata, Carvajal, Isco and Casemiro chances in the last games in Cl which I think is a good idea because we will get the first place for sure so we can afford it. Ronaldo probably play the games anyway but that is fine for me. We might as well use Coentrao in these games. It will be good games because both Galatasaray and FCK will go for it

    ----------------Casillas----------------

    Carvajal-----Pepe-----Nacho----Coentrao

    ---------Illarramendi---Casemiro-------

    Di Maria------Jese----Ronaldo

    -------------Morata---------

I'm hoping he will do the same for the Copa games. So far I think he has followed earlier traditions of only giving young players 10 mins or so and if we want to use these players instead of loaning them out we need to use them more often.

I think it's not actually a bad time for Casemiro because we have the biggest league fixtures behind us, we are qualified for the knockout stages of the CL and we have the guppies to look forward to in Copa del Rey so he should be able to play in some fairly comfortable low pressure matches. And by the time spring rolls around hopefully he'll have found is feet.

The problem for Isco as I see it is that with Ancelotti's 4-3-3 system he would be best fitted in on the wings rather than in midfield. I think he could certainly do well there as long as the two other midfielders are more restrained. A 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 would be better for him than the current system.

The club have sacked Toril. Not really sure what they were expecting him to do after losing Morata, Jese, Alex, Nacho, Juanfran, Cheryshev, Mateos and Casemiro. It's a very young Castilla right now, especially at the back. It's a shame because I think he is a really good manager. I do wonder who will replace him. I doubt they will hire someone from outside of the club. Maybe Ramis who has been with the Juvenil A team for the last while will get the chance.

Lots of ex-players currently managing in the youth ranks. Morientes is having a lot of success with the Juvenil B team. De la Red and Solari managing the Cadetes (A & B respectively) and Guti is training the Alevines as well.

I don't think Messi will win because I think the general football opinion by now would feel embarrassed. However I think people want to give it to a Bayern player. The problem is that there isn't an obvious choice because Bayern had many players who were performing and none of them stood out. With Ribery winning the award for Cl I gues people will coalesce around him as the Bayern player. In that case I think he will win. On other hand Ronaldo has been throwing his hands up at the same time as he has been delivering the goods so I think there is a better chance than a month or two ago. Personally I don't care too much about who wins although I think a Bayern player deserves it. On the other hand if Ronaldo wins then perhaps we don't have to hear him whine about it anymore.

    messi does not deserve it

i wouldn`t mind if ronaldo would win it, in this season (2013/14) he is the best player in the world

ribery won all titles and played a key role

normally it should be between those two

Should we get a replacement for Khedira?

Ancelotti rules out signing Khedira replacement

It had been suggested that los Blancos might try to strengthen their injury-hit midfield during the winter break but the Italian coach feels he has the strength in depth to cope

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out signing a replacement for Sami Khedira during the January transfer window, explaining that he could just "change the formation completely".

The international break has not been kind to los Blancos, with Germany's Khedira having been ruled out for at least six months with cruciate ligament damage sustained against Italy just a day before fellow midfielder Xabi Alonso picked up a knock in Spain's clash with Equatorial Guinea.

However, with the latter expected to be back in action very soon, and Madrid boasting a strong squad, Ancelotti does not feel the Liga giants need to strengthen during the January transfer window.

“We are not thinking about signing anyone," the Italian coach is quoted as saying by AS at the launch of his new book.

“We’ve had bad luck - particularly with Khedira. Xabi, fortunately, just took a knock. But Khedira is a very important player who brings equilibrium to the side and, without him, we need to find a solution.

"I’m sure we can sort something out in his absence, which is an significant setback for us.

“We have a few options open to us. We can fill his role with another player with similar characteristics or change the system completely.

"We just need to make sure that whatever system we employ, the players are all comfortable."

I'm against this in general but we need to test Casemiro from now until the transfer window is about to close. If he doesn't cut the mustard than we should consider loaning somebody but nothing aside from that.

The only one from Castilla who could possibly step in is Jose Rodriguez but he is still very green imo.

I feel like between Illarra and Casemiro, Ancelotti should have enough cover.

It would be a ridiculous decision to sell him considering he has been one of the most inform attacking players.
