Will be interesting to see if it happens though, if he keeps selecting Lopez over Casillas.

I like Ancelotti. He did a great job at Chelsea and didn't deserve to get sacked. Why would I want him to suffer abuse from the Spanish media?

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
Have to say I'm a bit surprised here. I knew Ancelotti didn't just want to give Iker his position back based on his stature but I didn't expect him to start with Lopez. I think Ancelotti has a long lease because he has a very close relationship with Perez who will protect him as long as possible. Mourinho was a saint until he got into problems in the league and went up against the Spaniards. So far though Iker is not given the Raul protection from the media, probably also because nobody gets to animated over a goalkeeper or anybody defensive in Spain.Luis wrote:#bitterS4P wrote:So Casillas still doesn't start for Real?
If this continues, how long will it be before the media turn on Ancelotti?
With regards to the game I'm not particularly unhappy although I don't think our game flowed that much and our defence looked weak. Marcelo and Modric are the only players who looked above average. I was very surprised that Khedira started. He doesn't look like he is suited to play this more offensive game that relies on more passing. Perhaps Ancelotti didn't want to try to change too much at once because otherwise Casemiro or Illarramendi made more sense considering Ancelotti's approach. In any respect I don't care as long as we are winning. We can focus on improving the "footballing" parts later...if at all.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
Of course they look better!
The big difference is attitude. Where as in the last three years teams like Betis and Real Sociedad and Espanyol came to the Bernabeu and bossed the midfield, RM is now taking the initiative and being proactive in attack. Lots of one touch football, especially without trunks like Khedira, fullbacks not afraid to get forward.
Possession was 62-38 in favor of Madrid, 20-11 shots on goal in favor of Madrid, 11-21 fouls in favor of Betis.
PROGRESS!

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
I was interested to see that Ancelotti started with Diego Lopez. I don't think anybody was expecting that. What I found curious, though, was that he said he made the decision for that particular game based on certain "details". Does this mean that the goalkeeper will be selected on situational circumstances? I don't have a problem with him picking Diego Lopez but it seems madness if there is going to be some sort of rotational system for the goalkeepers. I think Carlo needs to make his choice and stick with it. I don't think that flip flopping between the two is going to do anybody any good.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
For me Lopez looked better in preseason and I'm probably the only person not surprised. I think eventually Casillas will get his place back but Carlo doesn't want it to look like he has just handed it over to him on a popularity vote. The idea is to make or make it look like Casillas has earned his place back into the XI. This will go down better with Lopez aswell.

Yeah I agree. Last year Spurs had a similar situation with Lloris & Brad Friedel, thought Villa-Boas handled such a prickly issue brilliantly.Cristiano wrote:For me Lopez looked better in preseason and I'm probably the only person not surprised. I suppose that Ancelotti could play Iker in CL and wait for him to deliver an excuse to play him ahead of Lopez. Only works if Lopez doesn't perform as well as last season.Deluded F*ck™ wrote:Yeah I agree. Why would Levy go down from 100M+Coentrao to 75M+Coentrao unless the first rumor was false. Even then everybody has been conditioned to this transfer breaking the record so it would look bad on Levy.

so madrid will pay around 100 million, do they believe they have the best player on the planet, or whats there problem
zidane was the best player when he joined madrid
ronaldo was the best player when he joined madrid
bale is with luck in the top 10 in the world, something is utterly wrong with this deal

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
It's an insane transfer, as I wrote weeks ago. It doesn't even make sense as Madrid hardly have a need on the position Bale plays best. Even for a more reasonable price, Madrid's priorities should be elsewhere, e.g. the striker position.

Benzema doesn't even want service. He wants to trot around the wings to cheeky one twos. He doesn't want to mix it up in the box, he might mess up his new gay haircut.

Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu today against Al-Saad which will serve as the tribute match for Raul. He will play the first half with Al-Saad and the second half with Real Madrid. Seems like a lifetime ago that he made his debut. I liked football better then.

I think the burning question is how will Ronaldo and Bale decide who gets to take the free kicks. Arm wrestling? Also, will Ronaldo make Bale change his free kick stance?

Ronaldo will get the one from left side, Bale from right side... and they will split centre free kicks between home and away games. Thankfully Real in recent years isn't in danger of making CL final or any other games on neutral venue (but Spanish Cup can be threatening to this agreement).Jaime wrote:I think the burning question is how will Ronaldo and Bale decide who gets to take the free kicks. He is talking ignorant shit as usual though. Those who have paid for neymar's dad's glass mansion shouldn't throw stones as it were. Man city's record transfer is 40M for aguero, whereas barcelona has 2 of the most expensive transfers of all time in ibra (70M) and neymar (57M).Cristiano wrote:Usually I would look at a post like this from you and think "there he goes being a cock again". If real buy bale, they will have 5 of the top 10 positions for the most expensive transfers ever.
