Of the three I mentioned Luiz Gustavo seems the most deserving. Why shouldn't he get it? What has Messi done this season to deserve it unless it really is the World Messi of the Year Award? It really must be a Bayern player this time in my opinion.

Fair enough. Part of it was based on that extra bit of success. Gustavo and Dante won four major trophies this season and Martinez came close, although he wasn't played enough by del Bosque. Yes, the Confederations' Cup is a big deal. The celebrating Brasilians and soaring expectations in Brasil for the World Cup should tell you that, but Bayern's performance is by far the more impressive and it should go to their best player, so Mueller it is. <Ale>

Okay then let's forget about the World Club Championship too. Confed Cup is a big deal, because with few exceptions you have to win your Confederation's Cup to be in it unless hosting the World Cup. This year was unusual in that the losers of European Championship got an invite too. Brasil hosted and were defending champions of Confed Cup so where exactly does that crap reputation come from? Yet more club-centric crap. It is a difficult tournament to get into and as such carries some clout, or should. It is ludicrous to consider it on a par with the Emirates Cup or Amstrerdam Tournament.

BUT he played with 2 different systems, and none of them was the 4-2-3-1
