    Ronaldo=Fabregas>>>>>>>Rooney, Robinho, Empty Ronaldo=Fabregas>>>>>>>Rooney, Robinho,

Post by rza Fri Sep 29, 2006 9:18 am

I never understood why Ronaldo and Fabregas are always this underated when comparing the best youngsters in the world. Wherever u go its always Rooney this or Robinho that, but in reality Ronaldo and Fabregas are the most consistent performers in their teams and they are barely out of form.

Even for national teams, Ronaldo is the first name on the team sheet and he has always produced for Portugal as it was seen in the WC06 campaign. Fabregas may have started his international career this year but already he is guaranteed a place and he has performed whenever he played. Sure Rooney was good in Euro04 and performs sometimes in the league but he is nowhere as consistent as Ronaldo. With Messi it may be understandable since he is not a starter for both club and national team but i find it to be an insult for people to say he is better than both Ronaldo and Fabreags given he barely plays. As Robinho what can we say other than he is just warming the bench too much to be considered to be better than players who are core to their teams. With Tevez, the writing is still on the wall but there is no way anybody can claim he is better than Ronaldo in international football, but he might have a case in club football although whatever he achieved was outside Europe.

Now why is everybody thinking Messi, Rooney, Robinho, Tevez >>>>> Ronaldo, Fabregas?

Hmm, I think there has been a lot of Rooney bashing of late.

Last season he scored 16 goals and got 10 assists in the EPL - the fourth highest goals total and the second highest assists total and none of the goals were from free kicks and penalties and none of the assists were from corners or free kicks.

Now Robinho - he was the best player in the Brazilian league the season before last, his first season at Madrid was damn good by my reckoning, esp seems as he played out of position.

Ronaldo - has been a revelation since Christmas and has upped his game to a new level, mixed in with a bit more end product (though still not enough). He has for the past six months been better than Rooney.

Cesc is a difficult one as the guy has no physical attributes and relies entirely on his footballing brain.

In terms of footballing brain, Cesc>>>Messi, Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney and Robinho.

But he hasn't quite got the physical attributes to take his game to a different level. IMO he can become better than Xavi, Pirlo etc but will he ever be the 'best' player in the world? I doubt it.

He is an amazing player in a 4-3-3 formation though - one of the best in the World and for that he gets my ok

Forgot Messi - the guy is great but IMO a lot of his game relies on his turn of pace, take this away and he is good but nothing amazing. He is a very decent passer but not Cesc class and his end product is only a consequence of the way that Barcelona play

Messi is the best - IMO... displaced Ludovic Giuly, the inspiration behind Monaco's run to the CL final in '04. He has tremendous acceleration, and he's got fantastic ball control at speed and is brilliant technicall without doing a plethora of tricks i.e Robinho or Ronaldo.

Then Comes Cesc - he's an Arsenal player, but even if he had a bit of 2nd season syndrome he's still a top notch prospect. His ability to dictate at that age can't be underestimated. He's more of a Deco to me, anyway.

Ronaldo is on a par with Cesc - a key figure for club & country... take away all the vilke that is directed towards him, all the ridiculous criticism, and you're left with a sublime winger.

Then Robinho, Rooney & Tevez come after.

Robinho = C.Ronaldo without physical strength - the kid seriously needs to build up before some defender just squashes him flat one day.

Rooney & Tevez are like twins - both will be world class players and they both seem to operate in the same manner, and they're of the same body type too. Before anyone gets on Tevez back about West Ham - send Rooney to Parma or Zaragoza and see how he gets on.

I'd still (if forced to pick one) take Rooney over Ronaldo, however I'm starting to fell that Ronaldo will have the brighter future.

I really can see Ronaldo with Real Madrid in 5 years time as WPOTY. Erm

I can see Rooney being a great player for us and England but I can't see him being the best in the world, not with the likes of Kaka and Messi & Ronaldo (once they reach their peaks) around.

Not really - he did well in Argentina and has done ok at Athletico, nothing to say he is better than this lot though.

And far too lightweight still and bad decision-making

rza i kind of agree with you, but at the same time no.

At a young age, age difference matters a bit, plus diff positions. Rooney is a year younger than ronaldo. ronaldo went 3 months 4 months playing bad last year, rooney goes 3 games 4 games playing badly and he is crap all of a sudden.

cesc is doing very good for his age, but he isnt up there with them yet no.

    imo

Hmm, I'm still not sure this is all correct.

Ronaldo will never have the footballing brain of some of the other players, what he does have though is fantastic physique for someone of his skill level.

An in form Rooney is a great spectacle but CL performances are a worry..... how can this be explained.

My opinions on Cesc are a bit biased, I do agree that he is limited slightly be his physique but he is bulking up and could eventually become a more defensively awar Riquelme ok

Messi - lets see after this season. I still think that he might find that he gets 'found out' more this season

Robinho - again struggles physically but hes at Real Madrid so he will be WPOTY at some point Wink

Ronaldo needs to improve on decision making and probably his shooting as well (free kicks for instance).

If he improves them (and he has loads of time) he could become one of the best in the World.

Still think all of these players will be behind Kaka though.

    At the World cup?

    Ronaldo > any German player.

If it wasn't for the Rooney incident he would of won the young player of the tournament.

His performance against France was superb.

any excuses for ommitting the official best player of the World Cup

    Poldi

or Schweini, who made Ronaldo look distinctly ordinary in the the 3rd place Stuttgart game

    ??????????

you would have had an excuse if you had not watched the World Cup games, after all Poldi did not play international club football and Schweini was mostly on the bench

    but

this time YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE

you are either ridiculously provincial (mostly EPL players)

or downright narrow-minded (EPL players plus the international darlings of the moment: Robinho, Messi)

    alternatively, you are simply dim

    or

    downright ANTI-GERMAN

    or

merely on a wind-up, in which case you have succeeded Shocked Wink

They were left out for a good reason - neither of them will ever be World Class - if either of them do then it'll be Schweine.

I can't understand the Poldi hype, he scored against some mediocre teams and all of a sudden he's a top talent?

And scoring a goal V nine men hardly counts Doh

He repeatedly did something your darling Rooney hasn't done for over two years. Enough said.

otto, I really don't know why you do this. A waste of time, and absolutely pointless. At the end of the day, it's the performance that counts, consistenly good / great performances for club & country. Labels don't mean anything.
