Feyenoord have confirmed Erwin Koeman has left the club but insist they came to the decision together with the former Dutch international.

Reports in Holland earlier in the day suggested Koeman had quit but the club revealed at a press conference they had come to the decision together after the 44-year-old conceded he no longer had the motivation to continue.

A club statement said: "Feyenoord is saddened by the departure of Erwin Koeman, but respects his decision.

"Erwin Koeman has always shown great commitment to the club in often exceptionally difficult circumstances and has always represented the club in a highly dignified manner.

"Feyenoord is highly appreciative and thankful to Erwin Koeman for this."

The Rotterdammers' season is still not over as they will meet FC Groningen in the UEFA Cup play-offs. Koeman's assistants John Metgod and Henk Duut will take temporary charge until a full-time successor is named.

Ha! Amsterdammers love good football! Hence they are comming here Cool But agreed, he would be perfect for us. Been might be another candidate, and even Jol!!!!!

Axe, seriously why cant we be champs next year? This year we have a dire squad, but still some decent youngsters. We only need a couple of "gerichte aankopen" and we will be on the Coolsingel next year!!!!

DON LEO IS FEYENOORD's NEW COACH FOR THE PLAY-OFFS!!

Hmm dunno what to think of this, I mean its only for 2 matches Erm But then again he was our last coach to win us the league title, after he quited...he went for a management job at ajax...the c**t!

Doubt if he will stay though, I mean he is doing quite well with Poland, but maybe he can combine the job?

I agree! And I also agree with our disappeared Feyenoord legend Leo, Feyenoord are much better than what they showed this year. Also this squad could have finished 4th with a decent trainer!

this squad is not good enough to match with AZ, Ajax and PSV and perhaps Twente this year... but they are not THAT worse than them !

Feyenoord desperately need a motivator as a coach now. I am not sure if Don Leo can get all the noses (I am not talking about Ajax Wink ) the same way within two games but if they can manage Grunn they will 100% win from Roda JC!

Decent coach, he made Brugge and Olympiakos turn into champs. He speaks Dutch as well! Downside is that is trademark is too play very defensive and very boring. But if he can grind out result I wouldnt mind it.

In my eyes there is something to be overseen with the Makaay rumour! Makaay isnt exactly a 4-3-3 player. And with Slory and Castelen it seems logic that we are gonna play that system. But it could gel as well, with a nr 10 behind him. But it’s a bit too attacking if you ask me! Or just go with a 442 system.

    442:

    -----------------------Ekramy------------------------

    Greene-------------Vlaar---?????------------Drenthe

    -----------------------?????(Lucius)---------------------------

    Bruins-----------------------------------------De Guzman

    ------------------------Perez --------------------

    --------------Slory----------Makaay------------------

    433 Unrealistic though

    -----------------------Ekramy------------------------

    ----Greene-------------Vlaar--------------Drenthe

    -----------------------?????---------------------------

    Bruins-----------------------------------------De Guzman

    -------------------------Perez --------------------

    ---------Castelen------Makaay------Slory------------

All in all, this is quality and its all Dutch as well. Thats the best part of it. If the squad looks like this, im sure we will compete for the title.

Yeah most likely Rolling Eyes He is not in Adriaanse's class. But still better then the Foeke booij's Ron Jans etc. I hate it when coaches return for a second period. But he is good friends with Makaay, so why not.

Well you got a point! The number of failed players at Feyenoord is amazing, I think we are on par with Newcastle when it comes to be a graveyard for players.

Anyway, its done deal with Makaay, Perez and van Marwijk...
