Henry has been the most overrated player in this country for years. I heard a commentator on the radio say that he'd pay to watch Henry just running. I also remember Jonathan Pierce wanking off and saying 'only Henry would do such a thing' when he'd hit the bar from 20 yards, something I've seen almost every player in the Premiership do at some point.

Great on the deck in loads of space, but when it gets cramped, physical, when there's no space in behind the defence and so on, he's virtually useless Thats simply not true, just one example of this is the goal he scored against Manchester United from the edge of the box, where he had his back to the goal took the ball on the spin and volley'd it home

Disagree almost entirely, what tripe. Top goalscorer of the English Premiership for the last 4 seasons, is the 4th all time leading goal scorer in the champions league with over 40 goals, an International goal scoring record of 1 in 2. And despite urban myth doesn't choke on big occassions, has scored against the likes of Manchester United, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

What more can a player do to prove himself...

Yet has played in three world cups without ever dominating the tournament. His ratio (goals/games) in Europe isn't particularly impressive, thus indicating that his position of 4th in the all time list is primarily due to playing lots and lots of games rather than because he's particularly prolific.

What more can a player do to prove himself...

1) Play well in games against teams who actually take him on - most Premiership teams are headless chickens, they rush up the field to 'get in the faces' of Arsenal, then when Arsenal move it forward they run back to their own goal, thus giving Henry loads of time and space. When teams sit deep and Henry actually has to dribble past them, he's nowhere near as effective. I could name 20 better dribblers than Henry off the top of my head.

2) Dominate a World Cup - first one he didn't even make the final, second one he got sent off for a ridiculous challenge, third one he fannied about and cheated, including a shameful dive against the Spanish to try to get Puyol sent off as Henry was still bitter about the CL final.

3) Be able to take losing with grace, rather than arrogant sulking.

Drogba.

I think he's probably the only striker in the world with more attributes than Henry.

You obviously have some intelligence Saints, but just re-read what you've written, then think about the critism's you've made of Henry then put those to Drogba, you've lacked objectivity in your arguement and reads more like 'Henry bashing'

They are both strikers, strikers ultimately are judged on goals, Henry pisses all over Drogba in that department, despite Drogba's recent 'form'

As much as I'd love to say Drogba, because I far prefer him - it's Chairwee - small pitch or not.

I do believe that when both are past 30, Drogba will age far better. I think he's a better all-round player, but Onree has been the best player in the country for 3 or so seasons... though Drogba has been much better this season.

Agreed Pierre. Although I had to try and be fair when doing the comparisons. I said a long time ago, when Hansen, 90% of 606 and co were saying that Drogba is shit, that he is one of the best strikers in the world, and if he could add goals to his came, he'd be the best, no doubt.

He just lacked composure in previous seasons at Chelsea. He'd create similar chances to the ones he makes for himself now, but sky them or miscontrol etc. This season he looks the perfect player.

What do u base that on? uefa cup final when Ayala had him in his pockets all evening?

He completely raped Jose Mourinho's Porto team (and Liverpool and Newcastle - although Newcastle's defence was of course very shaky)

I hate all the Henry bashing on this message board. Agendas. I agree Henry is overrated, he's certainly not in the top 5 best players in the world but you people make out like he isn't a top class player and that's not right.

He has alot of talent. He's scored some really good goals in his career. As for his current form, big deal, every player goes through crappy phases.

He would be in my top 10 Premiership players for sure (on talent).
