20% of people in California speak Spanish. It's the language of South West.

As for his wage packet, over half of it will pay for themselves and the rest is reasonable pay for America. The worrying thing is, if the MLS ever explodes his wage value will become normal. Shocked

I can't see how they can support wages of that effect if they become normal where is the income going to come from.

As they can. There are major differences between Europe which make it have amazing potential.

    • A state system. Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Aston Villa could be comfortably selling out 100k seater stadiums for minor league games if they were the only club in there catchment area.
    • Most important part of the state system. A closed League. There's no chance of the farce of having 6 London/Lancashire clubs in the league at the same time.
    • No Champions League.
    • Endless Sponsorship opportunities.
    • Willingness to pay expensive ticket prices.

We'll know when it really has become a big League when the Euro League pipe dream becomes a required reality.

I heard he`s only getting paid 2.2m euros a season but he will have 100% of his image rights.

Good luck to him, he always gave 110% when he played for us pity he was here during these bad times. At least he walks away with 1 title Razz

Shocked BBC are quoting £128m over 5 years - bit of a discrepancy.

Big deal for the MLS, taking full advantage of their new rule to allow one player per club that can break the wage cap, but a poll on Yahoo Sports says it all. The question is "will you now watch the MLS", and still 49% of people say No.

So IMO all this deal will do is attract those who are already interested. But who knows, maybe it'll work.

128m is including all his endorsements over 5 years.

He will be earning around 11m more than he was earning at RM due to the fact that he is going to get 100% of his image rights.

I don't get why people are claiming Diarra has a bad attitude. He was just unlucky that the cameras happened to catch him complaining. I think that what he suffers is a lack of brains which most players do anyway. I like the fact that Diarra would get so angry to miss a game. It shows that he's committed to the cause and wants to play every single game. He just needs to watch out where he complains about these things. I'm sure most players in our squad have had similar rants about coaches in private. It's entirely normal.

Everybody wants to play every game. Maybe he was unlucky that the cameras were following but he was clearly complaining about Capello -- not just that he was angry about not playing -- but accusing the manager of playing favorites and that he had been treated very unjustly. I would like him to explain to me how being the unquestioned starter for every game, in spite of mediocre performances, aside from the two he missed is unjust.

That said, I don't necessarily think he is a bad apple -- like Cassano -- but it could be a sign of problems in the future. Maybe not...he has time to demonstrate who is the real Diarra. I'm not holding it against him at the moment.

I take your point there Torrente, certainly agree about the lack of intelligence. If you are going to moan about Capello, he couldn't have picked 2 worse players todo it with than Cassano and Ronaldo!! Rolling Eyes

That said, I'd still rather he did his talking on the pitch, and last night he was awful. If he gets a good run of games in the starting 11 next to Gago hopefully his performance will improve.
