I am starting to warm to the idea of giving it to Eto'o but Ronaldinho's performance at the Bernabeu still edges it for me.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
i think they will give it to eto'o.
but i think Dinho deserves it a bit more, they are going to use his CL final performance(not see that he pass lead to the Moment the Change the game) and that he was the difference in the group phase for us. and his world cup performance(which i don't think he as bad as people make it out to be) because he was involved in almost every Brazil goal and had 2 assist, to justify to giving it to him.

I don't care who wins what as long as both of them get both awards
Although WPOTY will obviously go to Zidane in another act of brown-nosing by FIFA.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
Barca 2012 and beyond, in light of the Andresson rumours i was just wondering what the team would look like in the Future and who do you think will be the Manager.
this is what i what the team to look like, with Big Phil has coach
-------------------------VV-------------------
----Van Borre(sp)---Valiente----Kampony------?
------------------Iniesta(c)------?--------------
----Dos-Santos-----Andersson------Messi-----
------------------------Bojan------------------
if Andersson doesn't come then Messi for him with Jeffern take Messi place
Subs
Olmo
Calvo
Marc
and the rest
i think if each of these players live up to thier reputation we will stll have a great team.

Van den Borre, Kompany?? Have you been playing CM???
Ustari in goal maybe.. Maybe Alves as right back (since we have first refusal or whatever it is called).

do we still have first refusal on Alves, i thought that was nullified because Saviola didn't join them Permanently.
No i haven't been Playing CB, it just seems to me that Txiki has one eye of the future with all the young players he has been talking about and linked with lately
though i was playing a couple of months a good and Van was killer a RB for be

Regarding that formation you put up.
I think that we wouldn't play with that many forwards, maybe drop one of them for a midfielder?

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
btw, Gio and Sylvinho are to have their contracts extended for an additional year till 2008. We have been feeling the market for left-backs recently, but it's not very promising. Abidal seems to be the only high quality signing available, and he will cost upwards of 10 million, not to mention Arsenal also being interested. I'm pretty glad, both these players, though a bit old, are excellent for us, and with rotation fitness problems should be minimal.
Belletti and Jorquera are also going to be offered extensions, even though they already have contracts til 2008.

That is true.. Eto'o's candidacy for the Golden Boot suffers a bit from the fact that he had quite a dip in form after the African Nations' Cup..
Another candidate, though less media friendly, would be Deco in my opinion. Good World Cup, very important for the team especially during Xavi's absence.

Problem is, Deco only played two games and a bit a the WC (injured, played, rested, sent off, suspended, played)

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
Deco will never get it, if he did get while playing for porto and he hasn't reach those heights for us.(due to the fact that he his limiting his individual performance for the team)
i would like them both to take home the ball'on dor and WPOY.
but i doubt they will get the WPOY has eto'o wasn't at the world cup and Dinho wasn't himself. if may go to some good that has a good world cup and a great season=deco Maybe
dinho and eto'o should be favs for the ball'on dor if they use the WC has to much of a criteria. Because they both a great year(well excluding a month) and in any other year that would matter that much. Though Dinho edges it with the Games against Chelsea, Milan and Valencia

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
Deco should get it retrospectively for 2004. They fooking give out sympathy awards to Zidane and Ronaldo, so why can't Deco get it after maintaining a similar level for the past 2 years as well, and winning trophies?

Naaahhh... considering that he will look horrible for the next few months and that he isn't a midfielder or striker... (maybe as a consolation price for not winning best player at the World Cup)

To be fair Cannavaro was outstanding at WC, especially under the circumstances he was under at the time, and think he had a good season with Juve. Don't particularly care for the clubs he has been associated with and there will be a faint whiff of scandal but have to say I won't complain if does win.

I'm pissed off, I don't care whether Ezquerro is injured, Saviola should have been left out. Thuram should be in the squad.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
I'm not sure if Thuram should have started anyway, because Valencia play a little differently in attack to most teams. Villa tends to run with the ball a lot more, and then either scores or sets up Morientes. So although Thuram would be good positionally to prevent the pass to the front two in the first place, if it did get through to Villa then I'd be worried that Thuram may not be able to keep up with him. Even in the good performance against Osasuna, one or two danger signs were visible.
So Marquez-Puyol is ok for this match, I'm just annoyed that Saviola will be sitting on the bench feeling smug.
