Casillas had a great game tonight.

50-50 for the return or a slight advantage to Bayern?

robinho didn't do a lot, and he came on at a time when we just sat back, so didn't stand much chance.

yeh, casillas was great, kept us in the game at times.

who will go through, still very much in the balance, but after tonight i'm sure bayern will be the happier.

I knew that this match was going to be exciting, boring draw my arse (more goals in this match than in the rest combined). Matches between Real and Bayern are never boring, and this one wasn't an exception. Great show by Real in the first half, although the Bayern defence really looked awful indeed.

Bayern showed some heart in the second half and fought back, missed a few good chances also. Van Bommel's late goal was extremely important (and well deserved, since Real concentrated on defending the lead in the second half), beating Real 1:0 at the Allianz Arena should be doable, albeit only if the defence is being worked on. Bayern really need Ismael back ASAP, the Van Buyten - Lucio central defence simply doesn't seem to work well.

I think this match is still 50-50. That last goal (ex-Barcelona boy Smile ) was crucial, and a big psychological blow too.

Apparently Van Bommel made an "indecent" gesture during celebration...anybody know what it was?

That's his quota for this quarter. He'll score again in April.

He done a "Giovanni" at the fans, Salihamidzic done alot worse, he spat at the fans, camera caught him, Apparently Salgado had more than words with him in the tunnel !

BTW: Unlucky Bayern they deserved the draw in the 2nd half.

Such a good first half and then we go and fuck it all up in the 2nd half, unfucking believeable ! 3-1 at the Bernabeu and an awesome opportunity to score 4 or 5 past them and we decide to defend ! Only explanation is the team was physically dead.

    Raul = Dios.

Just back from the stadium. Not sure what some people here saw. Maybe it all looks different on TV.

If we were only halfway decent on defense we'd have won this one easily. The first three balls in our box were goals.

Some German websites actually say Kahn was the best player. What? The first two were his mistakes. That would never have happened two years ago. Running around like a decapitated chicken!

Madrid were really not very good, but they started full of energy. That plus our terrible defense was enough. But we fought back and in the last half hour it was just a matter of time till we scored. Pizarro should've had one. Nice game by him and Scholl as well. (BTW, why don't we have a left-foot to play on the left side?)

I really don't see why we shouldn't go through. Either way, I'd still put money on it that the winner of this tie is going out in the quarters. You can't walk through the CL knockout stages playing like this.

Best players: Hargreaves, Pizarro / Beckham, Raul

Good summary, I agree with it based on what I saw (about 1/2 the match). Same thing happened when Madrid beat us earlier in the season - they had lots of energy but not much else.

Van Bommel should be fined by his team and get a match ban for that.

    @ Parks

Becks had a great game, he deserves to be called up for England.

ok Good summary.... thats the game I saw. A game of 2 halves actually, first half I thot beckham was the best player (inspite of rauls 2 goals), and in the second, it was Pizarro - he turned the game when he came on!

The best moment of the game was the save Cassillas pulled off Pizarro!!! Did it look as unbelievable from the stadium as well??

It seemed impossible to miss. Goals are really rather large and for a striker not to make this shot is pretty sad. Still, kudos to Pizarro. He gave us some much-needed energy.

it seemed to my that we sat back in the second half. we played well in the first but cappello normal style worked against him. he has waaay too much trust in our centre backs and our organisation which isnt good enough to just sit back against a good team. we got what we deserved because we playing like cowards(sp) at home when we were ahead.and if emerson was fit he should have put him on to defend instead letting the midfield run tired out there.i dont think we will be able to hold the game at bayern which cappello will prob attempt to do.
it started so well and then we got punished deservedly.

well i think it is part being scared but also cappello wanting to sit back. i see where he gets the scared part from because when we got ahead we got scared and let them play untill they got level. allthough i wonder where they got the idea to sit back when ahead scratch

"Fouls committed" is wrong, I think. It was already 9-9 at half-time. Shots was Real 8 - Bayern 16 according to the screen in the Bernabeu.
