Kuyt V Berbatov V Martins Empty Kuyt V Berbatov V Martins

Post by Chocolate Thunder Mon Feb 19, 2007 9:03 pm

All 3 strikers have been impressive throughtout the season so far, all 3 have been bought fr around 10 million pounds and have scored around 10 goals each.

Well its a close one for me now.........its really between Berbatov and Kuyt.

Been a fan of Berbatov for ages now but I picked Kuyt cause I wouldnt swap him for either players.

Kuyt is someone who offers such much for much for the team defensively and in attack. He is the perfect team player in my opinion.
Hes is always there or around to make himself available for a pass or he can spot a pass. He rarely gives the ball away, espically compared to the other 2 players and if he does lose it he will track back with all his life to win it back or to add another man in defence. He is very versatile, he can play as a lone striker, with a partner, as a wing forward on either side like when he does for Holland and as a 2nd striker.

Hmm, i voted Kuyt but it's only because I love the guy so much!, He's a great player who has a fantastic work rate and is already a fan favorite

are any of them going to get 20 goals a season? i'm not sure

Berbatov simply because the other two aren't very good finishers.. Kuijt is definetly the hardest working and a very good second striker and Martins physique is very good, but Berbatov for me.

I must admit most of what I have seen of him was in Germany where he seemed very dangerous.. could be that the faster pace has affected his abilities.. well if that is the case then I would go for Martins..

All three are pretty level in terms of quality.

Kuyt just shades it for me purely on workrate but id be happy with either of others

Kuyt V Berbatov V Martins Empty Re: Kuyt V Berbatov V Martins

Post by Football Genius Mon Feb 19, 2007 9:24 pm

Ultimately its all about productivity, because all three and relatively close, it then becomes preference.

Martins individually has been fabulous, im sure as his time progresses at Newcastle collectively (for the team) he will become much better.

Kuyt and Berbatov have instantly affected the way their teams attack, bring midfielders into play by holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

Each player has brought to the club what the managers hoped, Kuyt a geniune striker who can link play and score, Berbatov a target man Keane or Defoe can play off who also contributes with goals, Martins pace to worry defenders and make and score goals for himself.

I personally like Berbatov, however believe he hasn't been as consistant as Kuyt, or as explosive as Martins.

The interesting thing is, that all three of them need a 'specific' partner to enhance their own play, only Berbatov in my belief has had that in Keane or Defoe.

initially I thought Berbatov, but when you compare Spurs without Berbatov last season (pushing for CL) and Spurs this season (hoping for UEFA Cup place) it changes my mind.

Newcastle have been in a good run of form lately, but I haven't forgotten how shite Martins was the first half of the season.

So Kuyt it is then ok

I think all three will become some of the best strikers in the league for the coming years.

Kuyt is still a second striker first, Berbatov a targetman, Martins a pacy (second) striker.

    This poll is a joke.

All the Liverpool and Dutch posters (ie most of the board) have voted for Kuyt.

The lack of Newcastle, Nigerian, Spurs and Bulgarian posters is really hampering the legitimacy of this poll.

Fact is, both Martins and Berbatov have the X-factor, KUYt IMO doesn't

Exactly, Kuyt is a good player but he relies almost solely on work rate as his main factor over other players. sure he has some skill, strength and pace, but IMO not as much as berbatov.

regarding Glenn's point, I seriously doubt that berbatov is responsibly for Spurs form in the league this season, its probably more down to their injuries, Robinson's lack of form + the loss of Davids and Carrick
