Incidentally Hierro isn't joining the club either, he claims there is no specific function for him at the club scratch

In addition to being an idiot. It is not a coincidence that the team started coming together and playing better after Capello kicked Pedja out of the dressing room and he kept his mouth shut.

Its simple, A.Torres just wants money. He wants us to pay off the last year on Schuster`s contract, something we should have done by now, fucking haggling over less than half a million euros !!! What are we catalanes Doh

Schuster is one of my favourite players of all time, a genius on the pitch who never got the recognition in Germany he deserved. If he becomes the new Madrid manager, I want him (and therefore Madrid) to do exceptionally well. I'll be a Madrid supporter.

First, to shut up all his critics back home, seeing certain people having an omelette on the face never gets old. Second, to revive the great tradition of excellent German managers, something we really lack these days. And finally, to have the opportunity of a new "base" for German players abroad, something like the Serie A in the late 80s/early 90s (e.g. Inter), with the best German players moving there (Matthäus, Brehme, etc.).

Especially the last point is important in this respect. We really need such a base these days, now that the Argies have basically taken over Inter, while the Dutchies have Barça, the reason why we will never see high profile German players there. Very Happy

I've always liked Metzelder -- if he doesn't have any further serious injury problems he will be quality. We need someone who can dominate in the air and he seems comfortable passing the ball from the back as well.

Look at Rijkaard, Barça took a massive risk with him, he too had no experience, even worse he got Sparta relegated !!! Had no european experience and won them their 2nd (lol) CL.

The only thing I'm worried about with Schuster is his character, its caused him trouble in the past and could happen again, also he doesn't take criticism too well. If you recall he went off at the press when Geta lost the 1st leg of the copa against Barça. Imagine all the criticism he`s going to get here Shocked ... i hope he handles it alot better than he did.

I honestly think you should have gone for Laudrup.. His style would have people liking him a lot more than Schuster's Chelsea-light.. Also Laudrup has been at a club that was expected to win titles, so a lot of pressure, rather than the we can only "overperform" clubs that Schuster has been at.

For 7m. euro, Reyes would be a steal! I'd pay 10m. for him in heartbeat...hopefully this works out. ok

What you fail to mention is that Rijkaard however, was the manager of the national team: made them play some of the best and exciting football there has been and would have reached the EC finals if only one of those donkeys on the pitch had the bottle to finish a penalty Rolling Eyes (2 in regular time and a shootout).
Completely outplayed Italy yet didn't reach the final. We had already won from France (the winners) during the group stages as well. Rolling Eyes

Slightly different than with Schuster I'd say. There were plenty of clubs itching to sign Rijkaard based on the EC00.

Schuster is definitely more of a gamble.

Wouldn't say that. Club and international football are totally different. And while Schuster has shown signs of good potential Rijkaard was just pure $h!t as club coach. Come to think of it, he was the worst coach in our 109 years of Sparta, says alot.

Unlike any of the highprofile fuckups (Van Basten etc), at least Rijkaard learned the trade at a lower level club - and by the look of things learned from his mistakes.
I wouldn't say Rijkaard is among the best managers (top 5) in the world, but he clearly is a good measure above average and does have some (innate) skill in handling a high profile job with great expectations and doing it well, with the inclusion of great football at times.

Great news if we get Reyes for 7 million. The guy deserves another chance after his heroic performance against Mallorca. Though of course, I still wouldn't be in favor of spending a lot of money for him because he's been quite mediocre throughout the season.

Not happy about Robben though. They guy might as well be nicknamed "Mr. Glass". He's had lots of injury problems since his PSV days and nothing has changed in Chelsea. The guy hasn't even completed half a season with them yet. I say we splash the cash on Quaresma instead.

I think there is very little chance of Reyes going for 7m euros, that's less than £5m and I don't think that sort of loss will be acceptable to the club. We're asking for 14m euro, but I can see us accepting a bid of 12m euro.

Atletico have been interested, and if they sell Torres then they might be willing and able to offer us a fee closer to what we are asking.

I'd pay the 12m. in a heartbeat, personally. Atletico have a lot of options they are pursuing: Forlan, Riquelme, Quaresma, etc....plus I don't know that Reyes will actually want to go there.

The worrying thing is that we have not been linked with Quaresma at all outside of internet message boards. I don't think we're going to be in for him which seems ridiculous because who else are we going to get for the right side?

No, I think he would much rather join you, but if Real Madrid don't offer what we want and he is running out of options then I'm sure he would accept going there rather than being forced to stay at Arsenal for another year.

12m is good value for Reyes but I think we just want rid now so that we can plan for the future. We don't lose a huge amount on him and 12m is enough to sign a good replacement so I can't imagine we would haggle too much over an offer in that price range.
